this makes me think of the one Captain America: Theater of War Ghosts of my Country.

i think that is what alot of people have though. He's the Spirit of America... not America the Government, but America the ideal.

I know it is a stressful situation for them all, but someone needs to fetch those women some sandwiches immediately. Particularly the Black Widow (that is her?). They look as if they actually in the process of starving...also a little like soulless shells, but you can't hold that against someone.

I don't know if it is because it is more pronounced than before, or just that they are all seen together, but they look so hungry. It's not even the usual *head tilt* there's something wrong with this picture feeling. They just look sad and upsetting.

Honestly, I think this is the more interesting bit out of the entire event. I'm not sure if that's a compliment to Bendis' work or an insult to everyone else, but...there you go.

Nothing says gripping, dynamic writing like putting your characters in a black void in front of an invisible cameraman and have them say your opinions for you.

Super hero comics are ACTION stories. Talking heads? Not action. Pages and pages of talking heads? Not. Action. Some amount of talking is necessary for exposition or even reaction to the action. Using the exact same narrative devices month after month is dull and indicates a lack of skill or interest in the writer. If the writer can't stretch enough to vary his delivery?

Then it gets hard, as a reader, to be invested, either.

If your goal is to reduce everyone on the team to a meaningless cypher, then this certainly works as a way of doing that.

These pages would actually be slightly better if the utterly irrelevant, randomly arranged drawings of characters' heads were removed and Bendis presented his opinions on Captain America in plain text, since that would at least be honest.
