Thought I was about the only person who remembered that classic story. Definitely David Micheline when he was at his best. Wonder what happened to him..

(Although it is very painful to remember that graphic novel now, and then think of how Bendis is treating Simon currently with the whole Revengers lark..Sigh!)

Though I suppose that graphic novel has always been treated in a kind of apocryphal way. Given that Purple man died in it, and Doom really should have been changed a bit by his experinces, given the lesson he should have learned from it. i.e Ruling the world. Great in theory. But a bit less fun in reality! LOL!

Although I did love how Doom was written in the graphic novel itself, being excited by having the challenge of a rebel avenger to deal with after the boredom of ruling the world, and also his whole thing about how fate has always conspired against him. To the extent that when he has a chance to win at the end, and is so disenchanted by his ruling experience, that he just decides to leave it up to fate, knowing that it will probably screw him over again. Great stuff!
