Due to the monthly nature of comics, and possibly also due to the fact that the schedule for new episodes is a thing in flux, the Young Justice tie-in comic is really taking its time in catching up with the show. In the latest issue, #7, we finally reach the point where Artemis joins the cast, as we see the events that led up to her secretly helping the team against Amazo.

I'm not sure that's how child custody works . . .

So does this mean that Cheshire is Artemis' sister in this continuity?

So one of the two female characters' origin story isn't worth telling within the context of the actual show so it's just tossed away into a comic book for extra credit. It's like the makers of the show are trying to find reasons to exclude as many opportunities to let the female characters have a spotlight and put it into other mediums that everybody knows doesn't matter since it's the only thing that should matter is the series itself.

I can't wait for the series final where both Artemis and Miss Martian are seen only as mere filler support characters. After all, the series started out with two whole episodes with just the guys, so why wouldn't the series eventually be all about them in the end? This is almost as bad as waiting for the moment when Ahsoka dies in that overly drawn out Clone Wars series.

I personally hope she's among few who actually survives. Quinlan Vos is by far the only character I know of who escapes the Clone Wars with a happy ending at that.

Or Miss Martian either really.

Aqualad's so far the only one to actually have his origin shown in the series. He and Garth helping Aquaman battle Ocean Master.

Words can not describe how happy I am to see that not only Artemis is the Artemis I thought she was but to see that Paula and Crusher still (kind of) love each other, no matter what has happened between them.
I have an irrational fondness for supervillain couples, especially those two.
They're just two normal people who fell in love with each other unconditionally, but "the life" (Hey, being a super-villain is a valid career choice in the DCU) got in their way.
They're trying to raise their daughter right but it's har with all the talents she has all the obligations she's inherited with them.

Basically what I'm saying is that I ship Tigress I and Sportsmaster for life and damn the haters.

Well, since they're in Gotham City, who would care? It's not like the GCPD are the shining beacons of competence.

Miss Martian got covered in a comic issue, as did Robin, which added an interesting twist to the Grayson deaths, insasmuch as Dick had an older brother who was also killed (Shades of Batman Forever.

To be honest, Yoda's actions struck me as pretty much piss poor after the Clone War. He runs and HIDES! He does, as far as we know, NOTHING, for the twenty years it takes for Luke to grow up and come to him. Does he try to do anything to prevent the rise of the Sith? No. Does he organise any sort of underground, or even assist the Rebellion (Who could sorely use his skills and help no doubt) No. He sits in a swamp talking to himself.

Ben at least has the retconned in "Keeping an eye on Luke and keeping him safe" mission to carry out.

Anyone know what's up with the show, anyway? Greg Weisman said that several episodes are already in the can (done). But I mean...why aren't they being aired?

Is it just me or are there some unfortunate implications in this?

Two half Vietnamese sisters, one good, one evil. The heroic sister has blonde hair, blue eyes and half the time she is colored with the same skin tone as Robin, Kid Flash and Superboy, she hangs out with whiter-than-bread Green Arrow and pretends to be his daughter/niece and she gets to be on the junior Justice League. Meanwhile her villainous sister looks Asian, is an evil ninja babe and a member of the League of Assassins.

They've got this whole "evil is in your blood" theme going on in the show what with Superboy and Aqualad also having villainous fathers and Miss Martian's White Martian stuff, and they and Artemis will all get past that, it is still a kids show after all. But I doubt that Cheshire ever will. She probably likes being an assassin.

Is this as problematic as I think it is or am I just crazy?

I especially LOVE that scene when Obi-Wan is on Taintive IV and they're talking about the message saying for all Jedi to return.

Obi-Wan: Well than we must go back. If there are any stragglers they will fall into the trap and be killed.
Yoda: Suggest dismantling the coded signal, do you?

Wait, wait. Jedi are being murdered, they've known about this signal for a while, and Yoda never once thought about coming up with a plan on shutting it down in order to save what other surviving Jedi there may be?

Obi-Wan: Yes master. There is too much at stake.
Yoda: I agree. And a little more knowledge might light our way.

Saving the Jedi? Meh. Possibility on figuring out who did this? LET'S GO!

You're assuming based upon no evidence. What we DO have as evidence is that each of the boys' origins were covered in comic book form, as part of a two-part campfire tales story, whereas Artie gets an entire issue (and possibly more) to her origin. If anything, since we've yet to see origins other than Aqualad's in the Toon, the overall coverage has been detrimental toward the guys.

Perhaps intended as a more general statement about public services in Gotham probably not winning any awards using the GCPD as a template.

"They've got this whole "evil is in your blood" theme going on in the show what with Superboy and Aqualad also having villainous fathers and Miss Martian's White Martian stuff,"

I'm not getting that vibe at all.

Superboy has problems adjusting, but so far no one knows about the Luthor end, if that's even true on this Earth.

Same thing with Aqualad--if we didn't know it's so from the comics, we wouldn't have even assumed Black Manta was Aqualad's dad.

As for Miss Martian--from what was hinted at in Targets, it seems like less of the "one evil, one good" race thing, but more of a twisted class struggle.

I'm thinking it's like a triple-agent thing--she's been put into position by The Light to spy on the team, but her real loyalties are to Bats, GA, and the YJ as they're trying to bring down the organization. Thus, it satisfies the "mole" storyline while still making Artemis a valid hero.

No reason's officially been given--my personal thinking is that they're stockpiling episodes to air for the DC Nation block on Cartoon Network that's supposed to come out next year.

It was revealed, though, that there's going to be four new episodes (or Targets and three new episodes) in September, so yeah, I'm hoping that comes out as planned. :D

"the overall coverage has been detrimental toward the guys."

Detrimental towards the guys? Did this show not start out with two whole episodes focused solely on the guys as the main characters of the series? For being a pilot that's meant to sell audiences on what the series was going to be like, it sure didn't give the girls ANYTHING to do to showcase what their contributions would be like. But that's alright, we'll introduce them later and throw anything interesting in non-canon comics.

I believe it's confirmed that one of them is going to die. Not quite sure who though. Hoping it's not Artemis. Perhaps they will pull the 'Black Guy Dies First' Trope and kill Aqualad?...hopefully not.

Not AFAIK, a member of the JLA has been confirmed as dying (and that will have an impact on the team), but not the YJ kids. Zatara has been rumoured as a likely candidate, since he's never actually been in the JLA and has a daughter who would make an interesting addition to the team.
