Stormwatch #1 - 4 pages of spoilers
Sep. 7th, 2011 04:35 pmI couldn't wait for this issue and when it finally arrived, all I can say is "what? That's iiiiiiiiiiit?!" Not that there isn't plenty happening - there is - but I just want more and when do I want it? NOW!
Meanwhile, feast your eyes on someone kicking some unexpected asses.
Martian Manhunter and CO attempts to draft Apollo into Stormwatch. Apollo refuses

Yeah, stupid Apollo fighting child molesters when he could be fighting REAL criminals.
Please note "SLASH" note. We r famous and stuff and stuff.
Some time later, they get into another fight, this time, with J'onn fighting dirty

Dude, that is so SHRA.

My slashgoggles are tingling. I sense potential (non-canon, of course) OTP.
Apollo, while not as pretty as I remember, is at least somewhat nicer looking than on the cover. I approve.

Date: 2011-09-07 06:38 pm (UTC)I really enjoyed the whole 'we aren't superheroes' thing that Jack was saying, and the idea that Stormwatch has existed for centurires, unknown to and looking down on the mainstream heroes. It seems like Cornell is trying hard to keep a kind of old school WS Stormwatch/Authority/Planetary feel going. Also, the artwork was really nice.
You know, when I think of stuff like Giffen's 'Lost Year' series just before Wildstorm got canned, this #1 is SO much better treatment of the Authority than they often had in WS itself towards the end.
