Apollo, while not as pretty as I remember, is at least somewhat nicer looking than on the cover. I approve.

I'm sorry, but the new costumes for Midnighter is just ridiculous. Particularly the chin spike.

Seriously, how much Wildstorm fanservice did they manage to fit into that one issue? You can't accuse DC of not trying to keep WS fans on board, and I am not complaining at all :D

I really enjoyed the whole 'we aren't superheroes' thing that Jack was saying,and the idea that Stormwatch has existed for centurires, unknown to and looking down on the mainstream heroes. It seems like Cornell is trying hard to keep a kind of old school WS Stormwatch/Authority/Planetary feel going. Also, the artwork was really nice.

You know, when I think of stuff like Giffen's 'Lost Year' series just before Wildstorm got canned, this #1 is SO much better treatment of the Authority than they often had in WS itself towards the end.

After reading this I'm a more certain than ever that the Batman/Superman vs. Midnighter/Apollo is going to happen in the near future, especially since they are feeding Superman to Apollo at this point. I just hope that they get a good writer for that battle, because it should be epic on a level that defies epicness.

How about some actual character development instead of trying to sell us on how XTREME AND VIOLENT these characters are. The childish excesses of Stormwatch are why i'm leery of folding them into mainstream DC to begin with.

Comic felt a little exposition heavy to me, but I guess he has to introduce all the new readers to everyone and set up a new universe and three plots all in twenty pages. It flowed really well, considering, and was quite funny. I'm looking forward to next month.

I really liked the part with Adam One and Jenny Q in the mountains. I wonder what's going on there.

The projectionist's costume is very silly, so's the Midnighter's, but the Engineer is looking gorgeous.

I thought Midny and Apollo were going to be a couple, but they were going to build up to it. Anyway, I totally read that line as, "Hey, sexy, you wanna come fight crime and kill bad guys with me? And then fuck me. ~eyebrows~"

The slash fiction line slayed me.

Uh, the OTP is still canon. Cornell said he's going to build up their relationship from the very beginning. I hope they act more like a married couple this time around.

Anyways, I've always disliked Midnighter (every complaint about the BatGod can be said doubly for him), but the fact that he knocked Jonz out with a pressure point that Jonzz SHOULDn'T EVEN HAVE bothers me.
