The good:

Spike. Not nancy boy who thinks he must kill to save or some such moronic idiocy.

Jo Chen. Drawing Buffy on the Bridge.

The bad:

Joss still thinks that being grown up and not on TV means everyone talks like they do on HBO. For someone I used to adore for linguistic creativity and consistency, he's gotten awfully...lazy.

The art. I grew to loathe the majority of the art (Paul Lee, Cliff Richards, basically any fill-ins) during season eight, and this is doing nothing at all to change that. Especially after the complete awesomeness of Rebekah Isaacs' Faith/Angel stuff.

Lame jokes about student loans. Yes, I like realism and consequences, but that isn't even funny.

Why couldn't this series be awesome? The show was...

I've never heard it in that context - in the shows Buffy and Angel, Spike calls Angel that fairly consistently. Again, my apologies.
