Date: 2011-09-15 08:20 pm (UTC)I was enthused and the 'dawgs' attitudes actually got a laugh. The twist ending just to have a twist ending and prove a vague concept about lone wolf bad-assery completely fell flat. All Higgins needed was the action sequence of the book to bring his point across.
I will give Higgins credit for the ACTION in the book because it was good and showed off what Slade can do. I loved that part of it. It will keep my coming back to the book for at least a couple more issues.

Date: 2011-09-15 08:50 pm (UTC)And you know, not carpet-bombing his twitter.
Because eventually there comes a time where we must look back at all of the examples of the past from the Internet and realise when we're being useful and when we're just making a fool out of our legitimate complaints.

Date: 2011-09-15 09:05 pm (UTC)Constructive crit was what I meant. I would have loved, really loved, to see something good come out of this book but after reading the interviews and comments Higgins has given in regard to it over the last couple of months what we got yesterday was pretty much exactly what I expected to get.
It wasn't the complete wash I expected at least but I was still let down a lot and I'm trying to cover up some of the emotion with sarcastic bravado. Unfortunately sarcastic bravado doesn't translate well over text.

Date: 2011-09-15 09:22 pm (UTC)I think my reaction was also a bit past nuanced but those last few weeks with DC revealing various infuriating things and us just letting all our minor rages blow out around s_d also revealed to me how many people do think that a carpet-bombing technique or mass emails are valid ways to get points across to the writers and editors and improve the comics we wish to like.

Date: 2011-09-15 09:33 pm (UTC)*grumbles* DC seems to be taking the 'any press is good press' line and its infuriating! I'm getting really convinced that they DON'T care too much about anything but the opinions of their inner circle. The only thing since the relaunch that makes me think otherwise is the whole thing that happened at San Diego Comic Con where they had to listen Kyrax because she made her concerns SO obvious.
*shrugs* Some things are probably just a lost cause though, like this comic. Slade hasn't been written well since Identity Crisis. I should be used to that instead of hoping for a positive change.
