Batwoman #1

A ghostly figure arrived to steal children. Batwoman arrived to stop the creature, but the spectral kidnapper stole away with the little ones, and the heroine promised to get them back. Cut to Gotham P.D., as Detective Maggie Sawyer concludes her interview with the grieving parents

	Did anyone else notice the little bit of censorship on the two-page split of Batwoman smashing through the window in the opening? I thought my eyes were deceiving me when I looked at the pre-coloring artwork. I can only imagine how embarrassed J.H. Williams felt when someone brought that up in a conversation. 	It's not entirely impossible that Renée told it to Maggie post-coming out. I mean, the timeframe is weird (like in all thing reboot) because of how young Maggie is portrayed in this in any case, but it could be made to work somehow. 	I think it does. Iirc, Bette has only been active as part of a team, especially team with metas, right? I assume these involve different skills from what Kate's doing. I have the feeling the writer wanted to distance himself very much from Flamebird's kind of campy, cheerful image. This is Gotham, you know. City of gritty street-level. 	I love the art in this book. I've always really been into the concept of Batwoman, but the art really makes her book stand out. The red-white-and-black scheme works perfectly. Mostly you've got the grays and blacks of Gotham and then there's this woman with the splash of red hair and accessories. It all FITS! :) (Reply to this)

	I'm really liking the Art Nouveau-esque coloring and detailing in the top two pages. Kate's scarf/coat/bobbed hair combo have a hint of Paul Poiret style. IMHO. (Reply to this)

	I might be alone in this, but I kind of wish Kate wasn't quite so pale in her civilian identity. Visually I think the art is stunning, but part of me keeps thinking "How are people not noticing the two snow-white redhead characters are the same?!"
