Greetings True Believers!

Here are a couple scans from the latest issue of this Avengers mini.

I'm conflicted about it.

But DOOM! is always enjoyable.

Enjoy!

I do love this cover.

I add a thought bubble in my version, "Yes, DOOM hits this on a regular basis."

Anyway. The Avengers and the X-Men have "Shut up! No, you shut up!" super-fight and Wanda puts the whammy on them all and transports herself and the Young Avengers to a place of safety...

But it isn't! Turns out in a TWIST! that Wanda's Psycho-outing was partially caused by Victor. Wanda came to him after her children "died" and he helped her control the "Life Force" and it didn't work out. One House of M later Doom's scouts found Wanda and brought her to him.

Wanda wants to restore the mutant race and then be rid of this extra power. Victor promises to help her do so.

Wiccan, Wanda and Doom begin their mojo but Patriot interferes and disrupts the ceremony. Big boom and Wanda gasps that all that extra power is gone. Where did it go??

Oh, we're doing Secret Wars now? Ok, just so we're clear.

Can't. move. eyes. the. hem. of. Doom's. robe. is. WAY. over. there.

Victor looks awfully young here, doesn't he? Not a hint of grey hair. Unlike some. Marvel at Doom's luxuriant locks and despair, Richards!

Is there a reason Patriot thought it was a good idea to break up a power circle involving Wanda, Billy and Doctor Doom?

I'm all for the non-powered one being able to influence events, but that's approaching the suicidal.

Logistically, if you go by the timeline established in Books of Doom, both Reed and Doom are only about 40-42 right now, and Reed apparently started going grey in his mid-twenties. Doom could be as young as 38 if he was recruited to college at sixteen.

Yeah, thing is, I always felt that Doom IS bound by a rigid code of honour. If he makes a promise he WILL keep it but, as is often the case with such people, you check the small print, the REALLY small print and if necessary, break out the scanning electron microscope for the UNBELIEVABLY small print. And beware of ambiguous phrasing of course.

That part was kinda just for laughs, but at first look he kinda looked to me that he should still be in college. Kinda dunno maybe not anymore, but maybe still a bit. Eh. :)

It would be par of the course if he relied on this reaction from Eli to accomplish what he planned, without any manipulation on Doom's part. He keeps his promises to the letter, but he can't be held to the actions of others can he?

...You know, when I first saw that cover, I dared to dream Heinberg was going to give Doom and Wanda's relationship some sort of graceful coda where she acknowledged she'd seen another side of him before breaking it off, and that was enough to make me a very happy Doom fan. Then he went and did something eleventy times more awesome instead. Feel free to keep writing Doom forever, Heinberg.

Huh, Doom's white angel outfit at the end there is a lot like his FF uniform, aside from the gold trim. Maybe this story is the origin of Doom wearing white. If we ever find out where it fits in the timeline.

Also, it amuses me that you can basically rank the power levels of all the Awesome Cosmic Forces in the Marvel-verse based on a system of whether Doom uses them to fix his scars when he inevitably steals them. For Doom, this is your average Tuesday afternoon.

Well, presumably he is recreating his own face from memory, and all he's got to go on is what he looked like at twenty-one. Plus - unless, perish the thought, you believe Stan Lee might have been indulging in hyperbole - he's supposed to have "the features of a demi-god", so he must have some good genes to fall back on.

I should imagine, given the power he's just absorbed, he's given himself a complete makeover.

Hee. "Victor will take care of everything." OH CRAP. I really love this series. I don't mind how slowly it comes out, I'll wait. Got to say, how Eli thought the outcome of smashing a giant spell with an arrow because he didn't trust Doom would cause less damage than the Doom-spell itself, I don't know.

My favourite thing in this issue was the X-Factor bit, though. Rictor to A-List: shut the fuck up. AWESOME.

For real, that was my immediate thought. You have three of the most powerful magicians in the world working a magic spell at full power. What possible good could come of interrupting them mid spell?

Question: When this is not Recent, can we get scans of that because its not an X-Factor comic?

I can't help but hear it
