Mentioning the lack of transition between Dick as Batman and Dick as Nightwing is redundant, as I've mentioned that elsewhere.

Bruce needing HUD contacts for social interactions doesn't work for me, and actually puts me off the same way as relying on Oracle to do detective work did. Bruce shouldn't need prompts, he KNOWS this stuff, it's part of what makes him Batman.

Unimpressed by the classic rogue redesigns, especially Two-Face and the Riddler.

Nice family moments. Interesting that Alfred has a higher security clearance than Dick or Tim, but not too jarring.

The next issue had better have Bruce dismissing this as a frame up job IMMEDIATELY, because if Batman can't implicitly trust his kids, this is back to the old Batprat I haven't missed.

I urge you to embrace that redundancy. Don't leave me alone in my grumbling! On that subject, I think I haven't filed in my usual complaint of I-want-Cass-DC on this post, so I shall take that opportunity to do so.

It's not needing prompts, it's needing time. Delegating what he can lets him solve the crime faster, thus go on to the next unsolved crime. No shortage of that in Gotham.

Batman isn't just a guy who fights people or looks cool swinging between rooftops; he's a detective, in fact he's "THE Detective" in Ra's Al Ghul's assessment, it's his defining intellectual trait. His mind is naturally tuned to deduction, logic and reason. If he's not shown USING that to solve the crimes on his own then he's not really being Batman... IMHO of course. Using Oracle just seemed to be used a lazy prop so they didn't have to show him working things out on his own.

Yes I know modern crime fiction has moved on and even allowing for the outrageous mad-science that shows up in CSI et al, there would be a lot more techwork involved, but I want to see the brainwork.

If Bats were that good at being "THE Detective", Ra's wouldn't have "THE Grandson". I think we're supposed to be seeing a younger Bat-clan here, not just in terms of the art, but in the sense that they haven't been at this for seventy years. I'm kinda digging it.

I got the same vibe! I'm really loving it. It fits the 'five or so years' idea DC has going. I'm really really fond of it and that panel with all of them in suits is one of my favorite panels of art so far.

Snyder did mention a scene in #2 during a recent episode of iFanboy's Talksplode where he does ask Dick for an alibi, but in a way that I think you'll like. :)

Snyder gets the benefit of the doubt because I've liked a lot of what he's done recently! :)

Having read Detective Comics #711, I can also agree that the contact lens thing is ludicrous and unnecessary.
