Fury Of Firestorm The Nuclear Men #1 has two distinctions.

1. It has the longest title of the reboot.

2. The last page is arguably dumber than the last page of Batman: The Dark Knight.

One page under the cut.

WE ARE FURIOUS FURY THE FURY OF FURY

Aaron "The Mad Whitaker" Bourque; also, Voodoo #1 was surprisingly good. It definitely did "sexy" better than either Catwoman #1 or Red Hood and the Outlaws #1 . . . not that that would be hard in the latter case.

Seems to be. I mean, they barely introduce us to this new situation when all of a sudden, THIS. This is the sort of thing that waits till at least the third issue, for god's sake.

It seems so impatient that it's completely impossible to follow. And motivation? What's that?

I'm very surprised this is Simone. Really.

To be fair, Van Sciver's plotting this too, and since he's one of DC's top dogs in terms of art, Gail might just be having to play along and supply dialogue. So maybe the faster and less cohesive pace is down to him?

That said, I've never been that impressed by Gail anyway. She does nice dialogue, and I love some of her characters, especially Scandal, but her plots always seem kinda light, to me, and not very aspirational, if that makes sense? And I really wasn't impressed with the on-the-nose dialogue of Batgirl #1...

The thing is, I haven't been given any reason to give even slightly a crap about either of them. This is a new Ronnie, and I don't really know Jason. But Jason seems like a creep here--and I was a nerd picked on by jocks(and preps) in HS!--and this whole thing with Ronnie is so artificial. But this really isn't Ronnie Raymond. So they need to establish him a little more--which Conway, in just as compressed a story, managed to do way back when.

I know they're trying to reintroduce the old dynamic of the Flash/Peter dynamic flipped on its head--a jock being PICKED ON by a brainiac. (in the old comic it was some dude with sideburns) I'm just saying not a whole lot of this makes sense. I know what they're saying, but I think they don't say it well here. It's rushed, confused, and with no real hook. So what if these two guys who only just turned into Firestorms I don't know now fuse into this other thing?

It seems a few 52s have endings like this. DARK KNIGHT, HAWK & DOVE...
