I'm not sure I entirely agree with that, if only because of the always. Right now, race/ethnicity is something we should pay attention to, especially in regards to depictions in art like this, but that's only because people make judgments based on that when they probably shouldn't.
The idea of race, as a social construct distinct from culture/ethnicity is one that I think the world could ultimately do without.
