Yep, Jubes has a much healthier view of her relationship with Logan and she's a vampire who has to drink his blood.

Not really. If you grew up with an amazing dad or brothers (or etc) it can make you really damn picky about men. You *know* how awesome they can be, so you're not willing to settle for less.

I was pretty similar to Kitty Pride there until I finally met the fellow who is now my husband, and he *did* measure up. And I'm certainly glad I kept looking for the best. :)

TBH, I really wouldn't want to compare my romantic relationships to my relationships with my father and brother.

Kitty's comment? Just... ewwww.

She didn't compare the relationships, she compared the men.

Of course nobody would be romantically interested in their father or brothers, but you could still objectively recognize that your father and brothers are awesome men, and therefore expect your boyfriend/husband to be an awesome man as well. Because if you know that men can be awesome, why would you settle for any less?

Doesn't seem gross or unhealthy at all to me.

Well, one issue I'd have with it is that even if my father and brothers were sterling characters, (They weren't. I would never call them bad people, but they were far from flawless role models) the things that make for a good father or brother aren't automatically the same things that would make for a good romantic/marital partner.

Also, I don't know what Kitty's history is like, but I thought she had two living parents. I recall that her parents divorced and that her father got mixed up with gangsters or something [rolleyes], but there's also something dismissive and Marty Stu-ish in the idea that of course Wolverine is such an awesome human being that he's basically supplanted the place of her actual father.

Of course, I"m bored with Wolverine and really wish he'd just go away for about twenty years' worth of stories, so there's that, too. [shrug]

Every time she meets a woman, she can't help compare her to Storm. And there's no chance in hell they can ever measure up.

I have mastered the technique of not snorting water through my nose before I've swallowed.

And that's a good thing.

Yeah, I could imagine her saying that she gets nervous brining her boyfriends home because Logan checks them out to see if they're worthy of her.

Good thing she tends to date mutants far more powerful than him.

Really?

Colossus? - Strong and relatively invulnerable, but Wolverine is one of the few who can slice him
Cypher? - Nice kid, but powerwise.... not really
Larry Bodine? - Likewise, a nice kid, but a mutant power LESS suited to combat than Cypher's takes some doing.
Pete Wisdom - Her only date with a ranged attack, so one who might stand a better chance.

I wasn't familiar with Larry Bodine, so I thought she was batting 2 for 3.

I realize Wolverine's been made virtually unbeatable for meta reasons that have little to do with what he should logically be capable of, but back in the day he was supposed to only barely be able to scratch the Hulk's skin, and just strike sparks off Colossus. I recall it being quite a thing that S'ym was strong enough to throw one of his claws at Peter and inflict a fairly deep wound.

Colossus skinis (or was back when I started reading the comcis) a variation on osmium steel, adamantium could cut through it the way it could slice through any other form of steel.
