Okay, that makes sense, because it seemed weird that the same guy who wrote Astonishing Spidey/Wolverine would leave him out. I haven't been reading Wolverine enough to pick up on the running gag.

Luke Cage's absence still puzzles me, though -- I would've included him over some of the other New Avengers, since he's team leader and all.

Yeah, but I can at least write it off as Luke being insanely busy in the Thunderbolts at the moment.

There's a funny bit in the Wolverine "point one" issue where Melita's thrown Logan a birthday party, and when Luke asks if she managed to get in touch with everyone, she says yes. Quick cut to a scene of Spidey wandering around Avengers Mansion, wondering where everyone is.

Well, one issue I'd have with it is that even if my father and brothers were sterling characters, (They weren't. I would never call them bad people, but they were far from flawless role models) the things that make for a good father or brother aren't automatically the same things that would make for a good romantic/marital partner.

Also, I don't know what Kitty's history is like, but I thought she had two living parents. I recall that her parents divorced and that her father got mixed up with gangsters or something [rolleyes], but there's also something dismissive and Marty Stu-ish in the idea that of course Wolverine is such an awesome human being that he's basically supplanted the place of her actual father.

Of course, I"m bored with Wolverine and really wish he'd just go away for about twenty years' worth of stories, so there's that, too. [shrug]

Every time she meets a woman, she can't help compare her to Storm. And there's no chance in hell they can ever measure up.

Begs the question why his girlfriend has to interview them reporter style... Unless, you know, two birds with one stone.

Yeah, I'd say that Emma's intentionally avoiding saying anything particularly revealing about Logan here. She doesn't like him, but she obviously respects him a lot more than she's letting on.

That said, valuing good fashion and hygiene is a huge part of her character. She's gone to immense trouble and sacrifice to refine her own presentation to the world for maximum impact, and she disapproves of people who don't. I imagine her issue with Logan isn't so much that he's slovenly and smelly, but that he doesn't care that he's slovenly and smelly and does nothing about it. (Hence she's quite fond of Beast. Despite the fact that he's far more intrinsically animalistic than Logan, Henry tries to be as charming and cultured as possible.)

I wasn't familiar with Larry Bodine, so I thought she was batting 2 for 3.

I realize Wolverine's been made virtually unbeatable for meta reasons that have little to do with what he should logically be capable of, but back in the day he was supposed to only barely be able to scratch the Hulk's skin, and just strike sparks off Colossus. I recall it being quite a thing that S'ym was strong enough to throw one of his claws at Peter and inflict a fairly deep wound.

Still not as bad a misattribution as the one of my students who told me in all earnestness that OM NOM NOM NOM NOM came from the internet.

"Who's the short gruff Canuck that's a sex machine to aaaaalll the chicks?"

Somebody call Hugh Jackman, we've got an opening sequence for The Wolverine. We just have to find a spot in the Canadian Rockies that looks like Times Square.

Colossus skinis (or was back when I started reading the comcis) a variation on osmium steel, adamantium could cut through it the way it could slice through any other form of steel.

They have indeed broken up again following a recent event it would be sort of spoilery to mention if you don't know already.

The only time I can think of off the top of my head would have been when the space shuttle crashed in #100 or 101 of Uncanny--the first appearance of the Phoenix.

I love Elektra's little smile.

Also, needs more Squirrel Girl. I'd predict either "Aww, he just needs a big hug!" or "Needs more nuts."
