ComicBookResources has the preview of the X-Sanction event, and another tried and true cliche is brutally used.

Star Trek rule of thumb. If you wear red, you end up dead.

Do we really think he's dead? I mean, it may look bad, with his head blown off and all but still...

Nooooooooo!!!!!!

Not Tim Drake....

What? Wrong red-colored flying bird?

Although based on the information transmitted to me by icon_uk's posts, that shiny and well defined butt-shot is a quite literally characteristic of a Robin.

I think Sam's confirmed not-dead in the extra inked pages that appear in Previews— but this is still pretty side-eye inducing.

Also, lol, Radioactive Man now evil again.

Nope, don't believe it. Even I know Nathan's too professional not to take out Steve first. Sam can wait.

Since I never believed they'd keep Cable dead, gone or whatever, I don't have much of a horse in that race. I've never really read much of him directly and I have no real fondness for him (or the X-men between, say 1988-Morrison).

I'm kind of tired of Sam always being the fall guy, but I suppose that's not new. You know what I'm tired of with Marvel in the last few years, though?

Major villains now being treated as jokes or distractions to whatever story the writer really wants to tell. Groups like the U-foes or as we see here the Lethal Legion being dispatched off camera or basically just a minor speed-bump. Guys who once needed a 2-3 issues story arc to deal with (and this in the pre-decompressed days, when things actually HAPPENED) are now dealt with in one to five panels?

I can't help but think this is why I hate elements of that style. We get lots of chatter from Cable about how hard war is; meanwhile a full-scale superhero/supervillian battle is pretty much ignored. It seems to me that maybe those two things should be reversed.
