While I still find that whole caveman metaphor thingy to be one of the most painfully stupid thing I've ever seen - that was a nice issue finally seeing everyone try to decide what to chose.

To be perfectly honest, I find pairing bashing to be quite disgraceful.

to me, it's more about magneto (whom i like whenever he's interacting with anyone not rogue - because when he's interacting with rogue, i can't forget what came prior) than the pairing. it's imbuing the character with a creepy factor he could do without.

so it will always be an ew, no for me until they at least retcon the sex tape, disgraceful as the bashing is. it just really affects the way i see magneto.

Doesn't the way they retcon thing usually involves letting things quietly slide into oblivion? I mean, when the last time they mentioned all that shit (which i've never heard of before, so please keep it that way, I like liking Magneto)? Perhaps they already did retcon it!

i am in disadvantage because i did a lot of back reading in the past 6 months, so everything is fresh and recent in my mind, sweet oblivion is kinda far away unless someone pulls a xorn and is ALL NO, LOOK, IT WAS ALL LIES, FORGET.

xavier mentioning he had feelings for jean haunts him to this day, this sort of stuff sticks. lucky for mags he's hotter and rogue isn't a teen/his pupil.

you mean among fans? from my personal fandom experience (so ymmv)? yes. it's always listed somewhere when people talk about the character's shady-ness. (same for the danger room, even though that was already retconned).

there's a should-quentin-be-revealed-as-jean's-son thread over at the CBR forums right now and most of the paternity guesses are logan and xavier. it's just a joke, ofc, but yeah. no forgetting any time soon.

CBR is... the pit of everything hateful and trollish as far as how they can talk about characters go. Especially on any X-Men threads. I disregard CBR's opinion on anything.

And I meant more in term of comic continuity. Is it still seen as "canon" in term of how Xavier is characterised, do you think. (Can't remember - did Carey bring it up in all those Xavier focussed issues of Legacy?)

They were at his abandoned base, he has cameras there or something, he sees that they're there, he goes and leaves (and BTW, all they're doing at the moment Mags looks at them is hugging with their clothes on).

What's the creepy part? That he has cameras at his base so he can know what's going on? It's not like he knew they were going to be there and installed them so he could catch some nookie.

that he still has it on tape when he knew what was going on because he saw it starting. it's not like rogue is a complete stranger to him.

i would probably not find it as creepy if i had no prior knowledge of magneto's interest in her, but context makes it uncomfortable to me, and it's really hard to shake it off.

everything that happened while he was erik the red was a pile of do-not-want, tbqh. i regret having read it all. to think i only went into it because of joseph, blah.

After Genosha was trashed three times and his family crippled and scattered, I really can't see that tape being one of his priorities.

he watched rogue sexing gambit in a cave, they were all chained and stuff, then he's seen watching it on tv.

he was horrible in many other ways in those issues, it's just that this one stuck with me as very sexual-predator-creepy and it grosses me out.

I think it's a real reach to think he was doing anything sexual with the tape. He's surprised the X-Men are there, realizes he can use the information he has against Gambit, puts the helmet on, and leaves.

What got me was the laughing scene. Are they supposed to be laughing? Talking really quietly? Can they show any actual emotion?

But I guess that's an art thing more than a character thing.

the art is really not my cuppa, but i didn't see real humor in the exchange, at least not "deadpanning then laughing out loud for two wordless panels"-worthy humor, so it fell flat for me.

i think subtle chuckling would have been better.

Yea the laughing thing fell flat for me. The expressions and actions needed to be more exaggerated. Cause at this point it doesn't really look like "bursting out laughing".

But this artist really needs to work on expressions and movement, there's no energy or movement in this art.

Magneto has previously destroyed video images of his own wife during a funk. I seriously doubt a sex tape would last very long before being erased.
