Not really feeling the art here - What's up with Alysia's nose in that last panel - she been visiting Royston Vasey lately? - But she's at least interesting, if bland. I totally see an antagonistic role in her future, somehow, given how stern she is. Either that or she's going to be someone Babs manages to fuck things up with spectacularly if anything about Batgirl gets out.

It's at least... Different, I guess. Still not impressed with the book, but the Batfamily member having to hide their ID from a roommate and not a family member is at least new, although I much preferred the dynamic with Steph and her mom.

She's definitely got more personality than Babs does at this point.

Although I admit, I missed the "What a coincidence" quip the first time through, that's cute.

In the first two issues of this series? There's honestly not much to go on. She's been primarily reactive to the villain, and has made some small talk either, but there's been nothing about her that really jumps out. Other versions of Babs (original Batgirl, Year One, Oracle) have all had their voices, but I'm not hearing this version's yet.

i would have to disagree with you. most of the on panel stuff has been reactive true. but her internal dialogue is very telling. Heroing is some what new to her, she thinks she can just get back in the saddle again, but she has been over or under estimating things from the start. But she is still smart. She's just unsure about herself. But she is resilient. in her mind she is realing with doubts. but all this is going on as she is taking action. So she is not letting her insecurities stop her, yes they are slowing her down. causing her to doubt her actions and her abilities. but despite her doubts she keeps going.

It's funny--first issue we see that one of the big reasons why Babs decided to take that apartment is because the roommate works nights and wouldn't notice Babs sneaking about. Apparently that didn't work out all that well for her.

I wonder how long before Alisa starts to realise Babs is Batgirl if she's going to keep coming home with bruises and other related injuries.

I'm thinking that's like an issue 12/24 thing. Of course, I can see her assuming some other things before we get to the big one...

"Okay, I've figured it out, what you do at nights."
"...Okay, let me explain--"
"You don't have to--some people get off on different things, I'm not judging."

"So what if you're into that slave stuff, whips and chains and everything else. As long as everything's SSC, you get on with your badass sexually-liberated self."

Yeah, Year One was where it was established she was a dominatrix (not a prostitute, mind you), but come on--skin tight leather, dominant attitude, slight sadist tendencies and a whip? Of COURSE she was a Mistress.

hmmm i wouldn't say bronze age... i'd say early modern age.

Bronze-Age was from the 70s to mid-80s, and then CoIE happened. So right around the same time period that the early Modern Age started. :P

So I've noticed...just now. Don't mind me. Brain is still dead from working with the beast that is C programming all this week. I'd give it about three days before it makes a full recovery with fully functional neurons. :P

Awesome! Glad to hear you're enjoying it. The closest thing I had to a comics class back in the day was the storyboarding class I had, which one of our last projects was to draw a three page comic. All I have to say is that comicbook artists do have MAD patience cause I barely survived three pages and not even half the details.
