Where we open up, Sara's just been attacked by a powerful foe and wounded, but Angelus swoops in, fighting off the enemy and rescuing her.



Carry away!

Sara/Witchblade gets the low-down from the spirit of one of the past wielders within the blade, who had a rather close relationship with a prior Angelus centuries ago, and fills Dani/Angelus in on it.



That's right, don't get any funny ideas, Sara Pezzini! Dani is on to you!


So Sara takes Danielle to a secluded beach right before sunrise to have a heart to heart...



So now I ship Sara and Dani. As if I didn't have enough ships!

For what it's worth, I read 80 (start of the Marz run) through 119 in a day and loved pretty much all of it--lady cops! mild romances! exploding demons! babies! voodoo! exploding babies! It's all good for me.

I'd previously tried reading from the beginning and found it completely impossible to stomach, because even though the writing was okay it was a constant parade of my least favorite kind of art. That experience, combined with what little exposure I had to the series, basically cemented in my brain that Witchblade = bad nineties cheesecake about naked girls fighting demons. Now, I'm really into it and hoping that my token comic-owning-friend has the next trade.

Now, I haven't seen scans for the series in awhile, but is that the Witchblade covering the entirety of Pezzini's body like actual damn armor should instead of leaving her with a pointy metal bikini?

And it doesn't pointlessly destroy her clothes and render her naked?

This is such an alien concept to me. I... I think I need to lie down now.

I was about to post the same thing. That armour actually looks pretty threatening when it's covering everything vital like, you know, armour should.

Yep, ever since Marz took over at issue #80, her mastery of the blades improved. The covers sometimes have artists still show the old way or partially deployed, but inside? All armor. Or in some circumstance partial covering in addition to cloths, such as just doing arm/shoulder armor (like this).

But when it's in battle? Full thing!

Oooh yea, wanna know the real best part? It even has a deployable helmet ^^

Sara Pezzini can go full elementally sealed if she wants to.

The VERY short time Lady Death was at CrossGen she was fully covered, and the second CrossGen Series had previews of her in FULL PLATE ARMOR (I admit I squeed it looked AWESOME) Then they went belly up and then Brian 'bought' her from CrossGen...seriously if you though the way Lady Death went from Chaos! to CrossGen was fishy the jump from CrossGen to Brian's Sole Property was even worse!

And Pulido took her to the Skank-O-Rama of Avatar Publishing where the rebooted Lady Death never got a proper finish to her story but the 'restored Classic Lady Death' using a crap ton of recycled Chaos Cover Artwork gets about a million variant covers an ISSUE.

I just wish Marz didn't ship Sara and Jackie so damn much. Ever since First Born I was worried about a pairing with them and then that one issue of Artifacts...*sighs* LOVE his work in Top Cow but the Jackie/Sara ship irks me.

Yeah, that... that pairing has never made sense, or worked to me. Then again, I'm mainly familiar with the characterization of Sara from the fantastic television show, and Jackie from his game. So it's entirely possible the characters I know bare only vague resemblances to their original comic counterparts!

Exceptionally lovely art there, and though the full body Witchblade reminds me of an anime heroine, it DOES look a lot better than the original.

I freaking love that armour. Some of the past iterations iterations of the Witchblade armour have made me wince and hope Sara doesn't have any pressing body image issues.
