Not very 'Maxima'-ish (the colors don't pop, while Maxima was extremely bright in the old look), but not a bad design in itself. Could work.

That's what I thought too. It really is a nice design, it just isn't really her. I fee like I'm looking at a Namor villain.

There's something kind of insectoid and alien about this design, from what we can see of it. There might be potential there.

Which would be sadly ironic given how xenophobia seems to be so rampant amongst humans.

I hope he'd judge her by who she is, not what she looks like.

I was just thinking about Maxima the other day.....

Im ambivalent on the change but its really only an issue if you really care about all of the aspects of the "I WANT YOU AS MY MATE SUPERMAN" dynamic.

I don't see the problem. Superman never willingly reciprocates her feelings, and that dynamic can still be maintained, as old as it'll get all over again after the first time Clark responds in the negative to her affections.

The only thing lost so far is the fact she looked like Angie Everhart, and to me, it's not a big loss.

Still too humanoid for an alien (I dislike the idea that there are any humanoid aliens really, Superman/girl included), but a step in the right direction.

A couple of reboots ago it was because a lot of the "powered human" worlds we saw in the Legion were actually started by humans. Subjects of Dominator experiments who'd had their metagene messed with, and who didn't want to return home, so were taken to new worlds where their powers would be useful, by Valor/M'onel.

And so they should. It's a bit of a joke that four to six of the major aliens or alien races in the DCU, be they Kryptonian, Daxamite or whatever, all looked the same as humans, really.

Haha.

She was some alien who came to Earth looking for a suitable mate, and wanted Superman. On her planet they have done selective breeding for centuries or something, which is how she gained all her super-power abilities etc, and she wanted to breed with Superman for his.

I'm sure the cleavage, at least from that image, will be one of those things that different artists interpret in their own way, given the cut of the material. The angle it's drawn at is a little awkward to be showing off that much, though..

Given the common Wonder Woman argument at the moment, I think the new outfit is better designed than the old, as much as it's apparently sacrilege to say anything associated with the portrayal of a woman in the DCnU is good, because that breastplate doo-da stopping just below her breasts, a thong, and then some thighhighs in an entirely different colour is just bad. And it shows off more skin than the new one, really.

Definitely a step in the right direction visually, imo. That the woman hunting space for the perfect mate just happened to be be an ultrahot redhead who looked like Angie Everhart on her best day was always a bit weird to me. And again, it's a nice step away from the 'every alien looks human' thing that most of the alien races not associated with the Green Lantern Corps suffered from in the old universe.

She still looks feasibly attractive, she just doesn't look like a badly dressed spacebound underwear model anymore.

So this Maxima wants to mate with Kara? It doesn't seem that that would work all that well. (Though, in a universe where Clark is unattached, Maxima wouldn't work as well as she previously did.)
