Adams is now using the book to hawk the Hollow Earth theory, I see.

That's literally the only thing I can properly make out from this. It is the epitome of a hot mess.

Is the author honestly that sort of fruit loop?

He's got some wacky theories, sure.

Befpre starting this run, I heartily recommend this deconstruction (not that it needs much) of the first issues because it really is the loopiest, most deranged bit of eyecandy you'll need see in quite some time (Now that "All Star Batman and Robin" seems to have died a well deserved death)

I quite literally laughed until I cried. Multiple times.

Man, that series sounds like weaponized crazy.

He actually says "blush" out loud as part of the sentence?

I have been known to use "Well, blush" as a response to an unexpected compliment, but only with people I know well.

One day, comic book historians of the future will excavate the works of the early 21st century talents to determine their relevance in turn-of-the-millennium pop culture and how that relates to the existing generation's relationship with the iconography of the superhero, and when they find Batman: Odyssey, they will all agree that it's a story that perfectly captures the emotion of the expression "Gwuhh?"

I almost want to do the math to show how wrong this is. This is just that goddamn stupid that the physicist inside me is killing himself.

I like how he can't draw a geode or whatever the purple rock is so he PhotoShops a photograph of one in. That just looks freaking weird.

It's an amethyst, and agreed, looks totally out of place... but then the whole thing is so awful that it seems appropriate.

So this is just pity publishing, right? Like giving Liefeld work? Because if I were an editor who had no idea who Neal Adams was (if he were a young kid just off the street), I'd throw him out on his ass for handing in stuff like this (and what was shown in the deconstruction link above).

Actually, I know exactly who Neal Adams is, and I still want to chunk this in the rejected bin.

I guess DC assumed at first that since it's Neil Adams doing Batman art again, that there would be more praise for it/instant money. While I'm sure it sold fairly reasonably, at least at first, I don't think this really became a best-seller.

The question would be, why are they giving him more work?

I'm irritated for a lot of reasons, but mainly, when there are so many hungry young artists/creators with original web content that are trying to get mainstream notice for, why is there room being made for this title? I mean, it would be one thing if it was an original creation of Adams', but this is practically DC's flagship license he's getting to play with.

Oh, if only New Avengers 16.1 had been paced like this.

I mean, it had a great page of Norman Osborn's insanity as drawn by Neal Adams, but paced and drawn like this? That would've been a heck of a way to show the new HAMMER's rise..

Panel 1, about the coffee:
So Batman heard Andy Rooney was retiring and decided there was room in the 'crotchety old man complaining about newfangled things' department? That's all I can figure.

Neal Adams is a giant in comics. His contributions are numerous, important and in some cases, legendary. Modern comics owes him an enormous debt, both in terms of creators rights and advancing the art form.

But this is some fucked up shit, right here. Seriously, half of the dialogue doesn't seem like it actually is meant to refer to whatever is happening in the artwork. It's like beat poetry, practically. I guess he's going to use this as a platform to push his hollow earth theories. To which I can only say:
