I fucking love anyone who can formulate an escape on an airport caddy. That's amazing. And I still think getting a new writer and a somewhat different squad of Birds has done the book a favour; I know I'm probably alone here, but I felt Gail's return to BOP was utterly lackluster compared to her first run, even without crummy art problems.

I don't think you're alone thinking Simone's second run on BoP was lackluster, no.

I didn't really see that, myself, other than having Hawk and Dove lumped in there. I just thought her White Canary stuff took way too long and was way too built up, as though WC's identity was gonna be huge and not just tied to a kind-of obscure thread from a few years ago. That and the utter nonsense that was Huntress versus Shiva.

okay i actually LOVED the Shiva/Huntress fight. it was my favorite even.

I do think that the "Hunt for white canary" was too long, it could have lost an issue. I did however love her last arc, with Junior... Junior is a scary SoB... or... DoB

Heh, me too. Though if the fight would've continued Huntress would have gotten creamed by Shiva eventually. :<

Yeah, to quote Zinda "that woman don't know how to stay down." Though I can't decide if I would feel honoured or embarrassed to be taken out by a death punch. :P

My only problem with Junior was how artificially the character was set up to be of importance in Secret Six, but that's another matter entirely.

I thought Huntress vs. Shiva was one of, if not the best point of that series. If anything was truly terrible, it was the Death of Oracle storyline.

Death of Oracle was really, terribly pointless, because even without the reboot incoming, I couldn't really tell where Gail was going with that other than making Barbara a little too cold and distant. I mean, she'd be doing the same things as before, attacking villains using a coordinated team of superheroes and hacking skills? And any villain with some brain cells isn't going to figure out that it's the Woman Formerly Known As Oracle attacking them?

I think there was some good moments, but yeah, Gail's second BOP run wasn't really her best. What's sad is that the last two-parter she did with The Question seemed to be the book getting back on it's feet.

This definitely feels like a step up. :)
