For such an "epic" event, the whole thing has been pretty underwhelming. Bucky got a crappy death, Juggernaut got taken off of the T-Bolts, and Thor is dead again even though we know it's only a matter of time before he returns.

Did they kill off Thor so people finally started caring for FI? A bit too late for this I'd say.

So they killed probably the best new (I know Bucky's technically one of the oldest marvel characters going but you know what I mean) character they've had in years, take Juggernaut off the thunderbolts, give a crap reason for breaking up Colossus and Kitty Pryde up and kill Thor when he's been on one of his hottest streak of good runs in his history, all for a pretty lame event that only had great art going for it?

Bravo Marvel, bravo...

It would be nice if, at the very least, the character making a huge thing about the character who just died were one who himself hadn't just come back from the dead.

Yeah. Skimmed this in my LCS. I was not impressed.

Thanks Marvel. Kill him again after you just brought him back what, 4 years ago? All to cap off this seriously underwhelming story serving as the latest in a much-too-long line of extremely underwhelming "events".

They might as well announce that they don't want anyone to ever buy their books again and get it done with.

Holy shit. And I thought Blackest Night had some of the most frustrating deaths in a long time.

This is one of the more bad moves by Marvel. Really bad and Marvel has been handling their events wayyy better than this. IMO Secret Invasion was the company's biggest misstep prior to FI (if only for the pointless death of Janet and for the meh ending and non skrull related aftermath after YEARS of buildup).

But yeah killing Thor AGAIN (after a successful movie AND his title getting more attention now more than ever?) and killing Bucky (i was almost sure it was a fakeout)? WTF?

I'm not sure what golden goose anyone previously gave him the chance to kill.

Not to say that his Iron Man or X-Men comics were any good but they both went toxic long before he ever got to them.

Is the replacement Thor scheduled to be around past May when the Avengers movie comes out?

Cause it would be funny if he came back just after only 6 issues, which would be like a week in comic time.

Actually, what's the shortest window between a major big 2 hero dying and being resurrected (in publishing time)?

I was actually enjoying Fear Itself..minus the fact that Bucky got slaughtered like the nameless first victim in a slasher film. Seriously of all ways to kill him off... add to it he didn't even need to die! Just because of a damn movie...a damn good movie but still. Hate these damn stupid moves.

I haven't yet read issue 7 and already disappointed seeing that Thor died. It makes no damn sense and he's a damn god, he can come back anywhere from an hour to a damn century..in other words, he can come back at any time. Why make it so obvious an ending? Give a good twist. A better payoff. That's a key problem with Marvel event. Start strong, end weak.

They established that the Serpent referred to in the prophecy wasn't the Midgard Serpent, but this um, Serpent instead.

You know, they could have easily given Odin's brother a different kind of name. It just made everyone bloody confused. I'm going to guess they also wanted to play up the 'evil serpent' biblical possibilities.

Asgard as Eden? Cain and Abel syndrome between Odin and Odin's-brother-dunno-if-he-has-a-real-name?

When BLACKEST NIGHT began, it seemed exciting. It turned out to be an amazing opening followed by water-treading afterward.

This? Despite Immonen's always-impeccable art, that's not even an issue--this didn't even seem to bode much when it started. The world ending should have suspense. The only part of this that was even gripping was the Paris part of the story. And most of that took place in IRON MAN.

I like Matt Fraction, a lot. And I don't blame him for putting more of his heart & soul now into CASANOVA and phoning this in. I would rather he did. I'm just saying this series is a pretty-lookin' buncha nothin'.

So....each event becomes more like crack cocaine. The hits have less and less effect and simply increasing the dosage doesn't improve the high.

Once upon a time, killing a character would be a monumental thing. But then fans got used to it. So too putting the entire world at risk. Crossovers no longer even really exist...because every comic crosses over ALL THE TIME, at least in the MU.

Now we've killed Bucky and we've killed Thor. We've devestated half the planet....supposedly. How many issues before there's not even any signs of the trillions of dollars of damage done by the villains in FI? The mass deaths that are supposed to have occurred? All of which was happening more or less around the same time as X-men: Schism?

This is like a textbook case of why I dropped so many comics this year, after returning to the hobby. Say what you want about the new 52, they feel more like a return to a fan friendly form than this...which is ironic, since this was clearly meant to be giving the fans what they want. But perhaps not stretching it over 7 months might have been a good idea, Marvel. I mean, this was your big title for the month and it didn't clear 94K. Even your new, highly hyped Ultimate Spiderman didn't break 90K. I think you need to rethink your strategy, here.
