The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes - some news about season two (plus a trailer)

Not sure how common this knowledge is, but I thought I'd share.

Starting with the bad news, just to get it out of the way: the premiere of season two has been delayed till some currently-undetermined time next year.

This is based on online reports about the Marvel Television panel at NYCC and some comments by creative staff Christopher Yost (story editor) and Josh Fine (supervising producer). Whether that means it'll start around the time as the upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon series like these sources (same person at different sites) have suggested – or if we’ll have to wait till around the time the live-action Avengers movie is released (if the two aren't around the same time anyway!) – is unknown at the moment.

But there's good news too!

We now have a much clearer idea of the guest stars and the storyline(s) that the new season will bring. Here’s a rundown of what we can expect, starting with generalities and moving on to specifics.

To start with, two videos that have been around for a while (so you may have seen them before) - interviews with Yost and Fine.

The first has the two of them speaking generally about some of season two's storylines.




And the second has them talking about talking about the second season's new heroes - and the new looks for some of the older ones.



Notice Fine’s somewhat amused "I will neither confirm nor deny rumours that Scarlet Witch and/or her brother Quicksilver may or may not appear in season two."

Additionally, the first episode of the new season has now (apparently) been seen twice at panels at SDCC as well as the panel at NYCC, so now we have a clearer idea of what that is going to be about.

It’s called "The Private War of Doctor Doom" and, as the name implies, features the Fantastic Four and their primary antagonist in a "full-fledged team-up" with the Avengers (using the wording of a Newsarama report from SDCC).



In addition, marvel.com’s official liveblog of the Marvel Television Presents panel at NYCC (where TA: EMH just gets a few lines at the end) also mentioned that the episode included "...the hilarity of the Hulk vs Thing rivalry, and a shock ending too good to give away." Other sites didn’t seem to mind giving the spoiler away, however, and this screenrant.com report has it. IGN has a summary of the whole episode with, naturally, spoilers everywhere.


So looking forward to this, even if it'll be only next year when I see it.

Zomg, that final image of their team shot is making me squee so hard XDXDXD. Any time I start getting jaded and cynical about super hero comics, I remember why I love them -- weird people with problems becoming comrades-at-arms and making strangely functional surrogate families together. AEMH has the best Wasp of the multiverse thus far (second best Janet overall, first is Giant Girl of MA). But I REALLY want them to give her a power upgrade. I love her peppiness and all, plus she has some of the most amusing expressions etc...but her getting beat up and having useless stingers got so damn tiring.

Also Black Panther is badass. That is all.

I liked how powerful her stingers got when she was wore the space armor Tony made for her. I wished she'd kept the power-up I honestly can't understand why she didn't.

iirc it seemed to hurt her to grow to giant size. Maybe she's just not used to growing like that, preferring to shrink and fly instead.

I gotta agree. While I don't mind it being a Cosmic season and it having arcs based on Secret Invasion and the Kree-Skrull War, Doom should be the main villain of a season.
