Bah! They were too busy fixing TERRIBLE WRONGS IN THE MULTIVERSE to enjoy their stays.
But with nearly every What-If? bending over backwards to show what a terrible place the MU would be if writers hadn't penned it exactly so, maybe you're right.

Indeed, "The Cross Time Caper", nice idea, but went on far, far, far too long without any actual point, even Chris Claremont admitted that.
