There can be a huge space between a "fame whore" and being someone who doesn't like being resented by the public at large. I don't think I'm a "fame whore," but I'd still be pretty bummed out if the man on the street was throwing garbage at me. Though it might please you to know that as of literally the very next panel, he's on his feet, doing the hard-hitting journalist routine and investigating a corrupt business.
