The New Avengers #18

New Avengers #18 hits the stands today.
Norman Osborn re-assembles his Dark Avengers team.



Just kidding about the Dick Cheney.
But Osborn has brought together some scary people.

Most of the issue is the various factions of Hydra, AIM, the Hand coming together under those still loyal to H.A.M.M.E.R. and their reasoning why. Inbetween, we see Norman going around the world recruiting his heavy hitters.


The line-up:
Wolverine (the Gorgon), Scarlet Witch (Toxie Doxie), Hulk (Skaar), Spider-man (Ai Apaec), Ms. Marvel (Suprema), Hawkeye (Bart Barton).

Not pictured: Thor (Ragnarok cyborg clone).

Wow. An entire team that'll make enemies go...WHO?

Except Skaar. And I only vaguely know Suprema who played a role in Captain America Corps I believe.

And wow Normie, great idea. No way it can possibly go wrong since it worked so well the first time around.

Oh come on, Norm, you know you'd prefer some scale mail in the same colors instead, and maybe a remote-control shield too.

Just shove a former Crimson Dynamo (or Rhodey's mercenary friend) into the Patriot armor and keep on trucking.

Wow, Norman really went obscure this time. I had to look up who Ai Apaec, Toxie Doxie and the Gorgon were.

Toxie Doxie and Ai Apaec both turned up in the Osborn mini and very very nice there, I am very disappointed at the fact that they ruined Ai Apaec's design by adding the black spider-man suit. He is far more awesome looking in his original giant bleeping spider God form.

But yeah, Norman's new team is not very impressive.

Meh, I like seeing Norman back in action, so good for him. And the characters in the Osborn mini would have likely been forgotten if he hadn't brought them back here.

I just hope that Norman does his own thing for the forseeable future and doesn't get arrested in a year.

Wait. Dark Avengers without Daken being a skeeze? Without all that UST floating around? The complete ridiculousness of that entire series?That's not the Dark Avengers!!!

But Ai Apaec and Toxie Doxie... I liked them. So I'm torn. And confused as to why she's dressed like the Scarlet Witch when her powers are no where near even being close to Wanda's. There's plenty of female Avengers. I think she could have pulled off Spider-Woman pretty well actually.

And.... wow, they're scary, but at the same time, I have no idea who these people are.

It's like Norman decided to out obscure Wonder Man and his "Revengers".

I like his take on Norman and the villains point of view, but Bendis' writing is getting tired. He's just recycling his "villains working within the system schtick" over and over and trying to make people care about bad/obscure characters.

And if I hear about how great Spider Woman's hair is one more time I am going to Marvel's offices to find Bendis and stab him in the neck with a No. 2 pencil.
