Magneto#s qualifying statement makes sense, it has to be said. And I like the idea of the reprogrammed Sentinel lapsing into bad habits if it's not careful (Reminds me a little of the Sentinel in "Wolverine in the X-Men" cartoon which could IIRC ONLY say "Destroy all Mutants" but had been reprogrammed so it said it in a number of different emotional inflections to get it's point across.)

I'm confused by Children's Crusade, where it's the X-Men that want her head, but I think there's a time-line catch here that is lost on me.

Well, it's still not clear when Children's Crusade is supposed to be set (except that it must be before X-Factor 225, where the first consequence shows up, and that it must be before Schism because of the united X-team it shows.)

CC was actually finished a long time ago; before Siege maybe? According to conversations with my LCS guru, it does not actually fit properly in continuity anywhere.

I can't see how it would fit before Siege - the real Avengers (with Cap and Iron Man) have control of Avengers Tower, and Osborn is nowhere. And then Seve's presence rules out a positioning after Cap #25. If anything I'd say it was set in an alternative universe where Civil War didn't happen!

Ignoring details like Cap's costume, lots of stuff puts it post-Siege
*Quicksilver is said to still be looking for his sister in Avengers Academy
*Rictor is re-powered between X-Factor #224.1 and #225, which comes after X-Factor's crossover with Second Coming
*Magneto is said to be a member of the X-Men, which puts it after Nation X

At the other end:

*Doom is in Latveria, so before he joins the Future Foundation, (and presumably before Doomwar too?)
*The X-Men are still together, so it must be before Schism [or at if you want to really push it, before Regenesis]

I found the most confusing bit is the use of Wonder Man and how that ties in with Bendis's use of him in Avengers/New Avengers. I guess whatever ends up happening in CC is one of his grievances.

Of course, it's a bit silly to even try to place it before the last issue. Who knows, Wanda might rewrite reality all over again!

What I meant was, CC was commissioned, written, and drawn before Siege based on available information, then shelved for months. By the time they came back to it, events in 616 had gone in a different direction, so the information the creatives had about the state of 616 was outright wrong.

There is no point in continuity where the X-Men are together, Steve is in costume, and Wonder Man is happily on the team that CC could take place in. It is an anomaly and for whatever reason they didn't go back and fix the script/art before printing.

That said, it's awesome enough so far that I don't care.

Hrm. I could believe that it has all been written, but given the delays in shipping recent issues (#7 was delayed a couple of weeks at the last minute) it seems a little unlikely that all the art has been in the can for over a year...

I just reread #4 in the series today and Wonder Man is clearly estranged from the Avengers and acting on his own, so only the first two of those criteria need to be met.

It's supposed to end up around the same time as Fear Itself AND Schism, last time I checked (which is also hard to make sense of, but). So probably before this scene. Unless Magneto was referring to a much earlier occurrence; but then he should keep a grudge against himself as well.

I remember that Sentinel. Headcanon wise, I always picture that Sentinel hanging around the X-Mansion and saying "Destroy" everytime it speaks, thus freaking random people out. Gives me a good laugh.

Is that Sentinel...like from the extremely fun but short lived (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentinel_%28comic_book%29). That book was amazing. Its the heart warming story of a boy and his Sentinel. If I remember correctly the threat of the Sentinel's old programming resurfacing was a constant threat over the course of the series.

Would really love if they brought that kid back.

Between this and their meeting with Cap & Tony, Cyclops is really gonna have to get used to Magneto's infinite capacity to create awkward moments for him, isn't he?
I guess we definitely know whom Pietro inherited his snarkiness from now.. ;)

But Pietro's snark isn't as effective because he's not as big of a powerhouse. I think that's why I love it when Magneto gets bitchy but can't stand it when Pietro doe it.

I give Pietro so much slack ever since the issue of X-Factor where he is explaining to Doc Samson what its like to go through a day with his powerset.

Honestly if I lived my whole life at Superspeed(imagine waiting in line at an ATM, eating dinner, or even just having a conversation) I would be rageaholic by now. The fact that Pietro has the patience and self-control to just be an asshole makes him a saint in my eyes.

I also like the fact that these days he is presented as one of the more powerful people on whatever team he is on. Don't know that I have seen him lose a fight since he got his powers back.

Yeah that was some good writing from PAD back in the day concerning Pietro's mindset. (Mind you, it makes you wonder how the Flashes deal with it. Since they're mostly a cheerful lot.)

As for Pietro's recent form. I must admit to taking a real pleasure in seeing him taking down the always overconfident Mister X during Siege. That was a long overdue comeuppance for that character! Pietro really schooled him in what it's like to try and take on a speedster.

I honestly wasn't aware of that. (Most of my experience of the flashes has been from their team appearances and not their individual books..)

That's horribly depressing. I wonder though if that guy had had some amount of training if he couldn't have found a way to utilise it more effectively.

I mean Mister X above isn't any faster than a typically well trained fit individual, and up until Siege had made relatively profitable use out of it.

While I guess in your sentence the one qualifying Magneto could possibly-maybe be seen as positive ;) the implied one qualifying Pietro could not, so please keep that in mind in the future.

I was expecting some interaction between these two and the X-men for so long :P
