I wonder what a coffee themed academy would look like. Or the duels. The first one who drops their cup of coffee lose the duel!!

Why is a sleep-deprived, knackered to the point of exhaustion hero going to be any good to the Duke's daughter?

Maybe the coffee's a super-stimulant, with really high highs (creatures called Anathemas do not sound like the kind of thing you'd fight if you were just a normal swordsfellow) and low lows.

Motto.

"Fuck off, not 'til after I've had sleep, you git. Don't tell me how to do heroing, I won't tell you how to run around like a nervous nancy blithering on about ill-timed accidents. The baron is a nobleman, yes? Tell him to get his own armor on or ask another of his vassals to help. Useless twit."

Having just come of a 50 hour day with no naps I can relate to sir coffee. Sometimes it's just not possible to get sleep in - which is why they invented caffeine pills and energy drinks (WARNING: DO NOT CONSUME 800mg of caffeine at one time, feverish sensation will result).

Also I've got a scan request: can someone post scans from a comic where a hero collapses - not right after a long fight unless it was one of several - due to exhaustion. We never really Spider-Man walking around as Peter Parker and then faint because he was up for three weeks as Spider-Man.

Knightfall was made of this - that's how Bane beat Batman. I can't scan due to time issues, but several issues mention how long he's been up with no rest, passing blood, etc. Maybe it doesn't show him collapsing but I remember him looking pretty haggard until the big end-fight.

"Batman lost because he needed a nap!" feels like "Doctor Doom lost because it was a Doombot!" Maybe it was secretly a Batbot (who needed a nap).

That's actually how J. Michael Straczynski's first arc on The Amazing Spider-Man ends. Spidey's been awake and running from Morlun for over 24 hours straight, and by the end he's battered and exhausted. Afterward, he goes home and collapses straight into bed, still bloody and in costume...and so sound asleep he doesn't hear Aunt May enter his apartment and see him!

And there must be something like this in Incorruptible. Protagonist Max Damage has superstrength and invulnerability that increases the longer he's awake (that's good!) and has totally normal human susceptibility to fatigue and sleep deprivation (THAT'S BAD). It's actually one of my favorite powersets for that reason: simple to explain, capable of great badassitude, with plausible built-in weakness. After a week or so he'd probably be able to crush stars barehanded if he weren't hallucinating he was a gecko.

I enjoy Oglaf! and this strip in particular, but it seems that the creators have lost their way a little since the death of the Apprentice. I miss the Mistress and the Ambassador and the silly little cumsprites. I hope they find their way into a new narrative soon! In the meantime, though, I'll just be enjoying the one-shots they bring out each Sunday. (Who knows, maybe Sir Coffee will turn into an arc? We'll see.)

I heard that she's currently writing on the scripts and wants to start the Apprentice's story again when she's got the storyline all worked out.
So this is probably, in the truest sense of the word, filler.

And while I want to find out what happened to Ivan, too, I kinda liked the Allegory for Allegories. Giant caterpillar-giraffe for the win!

The one-shot with the Allegory Giraffe was my favourite thing. TERRIFYING.

Also the lines:
"...I'm not going to fuck you."
"Then sadly allegories are not for you. Perhaps it's easy answers you seek?"

I was deeply amused by the Allegory and all the concepts preceding him, and, well, the guy who had to fuck em all. Seriously, that's taking philosophy to a whole new porny level.
