That Hawkman cover is something of a mess, it took me quite a while to work out that The Gentlemen Ghost appears to have giant spider legs sprouting from his right side, and that that wasn't a giant lobster claw on his left shoulder.

I am not so sure about that. I would say the whole "Batman's darkest fears resurface..." line is why we are seeing Bane breaking the Bat's back again.

The bat was actually a techno-organic batshaped wossname created by Darkseid, that somehow merged with Bruce later in the storyline.

What's with Finch's art on JLI (not shown here)? Pretty crappy for his usual great stuff. And two aryan American/English JLIers up front in center, with diversity all around the edges. Pretty typical DC there. (Get out of the way Godiva!).

As someone who LOVED the Batman Beyond toon and was utterly disappointed in the recent comics I am in a similar boat. For me tho it is the fact they got Norm Breyfogle to return to DC.

I don't think I'll be getting the new Batman Beyond run which is depressing because I adored the cartoon when I was younger. The first run was so bad and Beechen is still on it so no. But the Justice League one I think I'll be reluctantly optimistic.

From what I found, it had good elements, but the initial storyline needed better art and some of the storytelling choices were a bit off.

Like Beechen deciding to kill most of Terry's rogue's gallery offscreen, people like Mad Stan, Stalker (the cyberhunter dude), Armoury (even Terry didn't react to the death of him and his family, despite Terry being friends with the ex-villain's stepson was established as being a friend of Terry's for some time prior to his stepdad's brief trip into reluctant villainy).

Still not going to read that Batman Beyond book, even with Dustin Nguyen doing the art.

But what exactly is the point of Batman: The Dark Knight, now? Bruce Wayne is back in Batman, Detective and Batman & Robin full time (not to mention about half a dozen Justice League books). It seems kind of redundant to have another one that is late all the time anyway.

At the very least, his art doesn't seem to objectify any of the ladies like Hughes' artwork (which is very beautiful). Admittedly, I do like the lines, movement and life of Sook's artwork a little more.

I was wondering the same though. I don't get the point of TDK at all really.

Gorgeous Batgirl cover - Woah! Can someone give Adam Hughes some interiors again? A limited yearly min-series? Something?

Jonah Hex - well Gotham's and Jonah Hex' side both seem to be kept pretty in-continuity. (Palmiotti and Grey did say so in an early interview regarding the new series)

Batman: The Dark Knight - Nooo! What did they do to Bane?? Just so he could ressemble the Arkham City/Asylum games one.... Bane in the comic was never this huge and monstrous, only games/cartoons/movies portrayed him as so...

JL: Beyond - at least the DCUniverse seems pretty unaffected by the New 52 there :P

He never looked that monstruous except for the covers that Kelley Jones did for Knightfall. Those are the only instances where he looks like a mountain of muscles.

Bane was pretty jacked up in the story, but Kelley Jones' work was always OTT.

Despite that, it still shows that Bane being depicted as monstrous isn't totally without precedent, and that Finch is hopefully just doing a homage to a famous cover, given the composition, from Bane to Batman's face, is nearly the same.

I like most of this solicits but for some reason I cannot diggest the image of Bane been over-muscled again as well as returning as been the Man who broke the Bat. The moment I read that the Gentleman Ghost was back to haunt his old nemesis made me happy although I don't approve much of his new look (He's supposed to be an elegant ghost not a Victorian Age Ares from the God of War videogame). Well, only time will tell.
