Jonah Hex fights a giant bat to the death! But even with his winged foe slain, will he and Amadeus Arkham survive being trapped in a cave with the lost tribe of Miagani Indians? Hex and Arkham must enlist help – including some familiar faces and some surprising saviors – if they’re going to make it out of this death trap and bring justice to the enslaver of Gotham’s underprivileged children.
Plus: The Barbary Ghost proves that a girl can be a gang boss’s worst nightmare when she has vengeance on her mind.
Yay! Callback to the Return of Bruce Wayne series (complete with distant ancestor's of Bruce)! Nice to see that at least the Gotham side of things has remained somewhat consistant. :)

Bodies are piling up, and one of their own has switched sides to lead the charge to destroy them! So how will the Knights turn the tide of battle? It all comes down to the deal Etrigan and Jason Blood have made. But can a demon truly be trusted under fire, or would he rather watch you burn?
OKay, this woman is rapidly becoming one of my new favourite characters.

Batman’s darkest fears resurface in this stunning conclusion to the opening epic as the Dark Knight confronts the mastermind behind the toxin being injected into Gotham City’s criminals. But the conspiracy behind the toxin runs deeper than he could possibly have imagined. Time is running out – and the entire structure of Gotham City’s society is at risk, unless Batman can find a path to overcome the man who once broke his back: Bane!
Wait, you mean that the villain who has been injecting criminals with drugs to make them huge, violent and overmuscled, is actually BANE?!? Noooo! Say it ain't so!
BATGIRL #6

Written by GAIL SIMONE
Art by ARDIAN SYAF and VICENTE CIFUENTES
Cover by ADAM HUGHES
On sale FEBRUARY 8 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
During the day, Barbara Gordon has to deal with the emotional fallout of the return of a key figure from her most painful memories, while at night, high above Gotham City’s streets, Batgirl and Batman face the deadly Gretel, a damaged woman with the lethal ability to control men’s minds!
It’s Batgirl’s first face-to-face with Batman since her rehabilitation – and he has a few choice words to say about her return to crime fighting!
He'll have things to say, like "Where the heck did Steph go? Seriously, do you have any idea how badly you've messed up my operation by abandoning your post as Oracle?".
Pretty cover though.
And finally, Batman Beyond Unlimited!

"JUSTICE LEAGUE BEYOND is from the creative team of Dustin Nguyen and Derek Fridolfs, adding Batman (Terry McGinnis) to the team of superheroes to combat a Neo Goath-related enemy. And in BATMAN BEYOND, from Adam Beecham and Norm Breyfogle, McGinnis and Bruce Wayne face an onslaught of Jokerz – and the return of an old foe."
Hmm, I'm just hoping that they don't follow the previous track record with Beechen's run, and decide that Mr Freeze deserves to be brought back to show that he wasn't really depressed to the point of suicide in 'Meltdown'.

Date: 2011-11-14 10:12 pm (UTC)I am not so sure about that. I would say the whole "Batman's darkest fears resurface..." line is why we are seeing Bane breaking the Bat's back again.

Date: 2011-11-14 11:40 pm (UTC)Ryan Sook artwork = nearly as pretty.
Still not going to read that Batman Beyond book, even with Dustin Nguyen doing the art.
But what exactly is the point of Batman: The Dark Knight, now? Bruce Wayne is back in Batman, Detective and Batman & Robin full time (not to mention about half a dozen Justice League books). It seems kind of redundant to have another one that is late all the time anyway.

Date: 2011-11-15 09:17 am (UTC)Gorgeous Batgirl cover - Woah! Can someone give Adam Hughes some interiors again? A limited yearly min-series? Something?
Jonah Hex - well Gotham's and Jonah Hex' side both seem to be kept pretty in-continuity. (Palmiotti and Grey did say so in an early interview regarding the new series)
Batman: The Dark Knight - Nooo! What did they do to Bane?? Just so he could ressemble the Arkham City/Asylum games one.... Bane in the comic was never this huge and monstrous, only games/cartoons/movies portrayed him as so...
JL: Beyond - at least the DCUniverse seems pretty unaffected by the New 52 there :P

Date: 2011-11-15 01:40 pm (UTC)Oh, and Bane HAS been that monstrous before, Finch is homaging Batman 479;

Date: 2011-11-15 02:37 pm (UTC)I do remember that cover, but I have the whole Knightfall and don't remember seeing him like that...at all!

Date: 2011-11-16 01:57 pm (UTC)Despite that, it still shows that Bane being depicted as monstrous isn't totally without precedent, and that Finch is hopefully just doing a homage to a famous cover, given the composition, from Bane to Batman's face, is nearly the same.
