And now, the actual mission. Their captive blows up, but Ivy manages to get him to name is base of operations before going kaboom. They located the warehouse he was based in and locate two more walking bombs, but things don't go as planned!

okay as i won't get this until tomorrow (and need a break from drawing my comic from class) i only skimmed this. Looks good, i am actually really liking almost loving this series.

Don't think so, these appear to be humans, just humans wearing holographic illusion generating armour.

I don't think that's the case--these guys seem to use some sort of technovirus thing to make people into living bombs, whereas the Daemonites literally possess people and go inside their hosts. I can see the similarities, though, especially since first major contact/talking to them happens in a plane, similar to Grifter.

Sooooo...why exactly did they recruit Poison Ivy? And was she in Arkkham/jail or wash she just chilling in a forest or something? I won't be able to look through this issue for a while so I'd like to know what the deal is with her joining. I kind of like how this artist has done her eyes. The black and green mix is kind of neat looking.

In addition to being able to control plants and being an expert biochemist, Pam can get people to say what they know by putting them in a trance, and Dinah explains in the issue that her skills are needed for the baddies they're going after.

And was she in Arkkham/jail or wash she just chilling in a forest or something?

It is implied in the issue that she's very early in her bioterrorist career. So as far as I know, she hasn't been admitted to Arkham in DCnU. My guess is she's going the Catwoman route in that she's transitioning from being a full-time villain to anti-heroine instead.

If that's true then it seems likely that they could have gotten rid of Harley and Ivy's friendship. :/

I like her new costume a lot. Sort of wish she had green skin though.

Also glad they finally explained what that kiss was about in the first issue. Confused the hell out of me.

I'm actually delighted they've lost the green skin, it never worked for me.

Ivy should be a stunningly beautiful woman, but be lethal to touch or kiss (It's sort of the point of her name). I may be old fashioned and out of date, but I think I'd fund a human with naturally GREEN skin to be someone I'd be more than a little bit cautious about going near.

I find it funny that she's totally covered because if there is ANY female character that would have a reason to be walking around nude/barely dressed then it would be Poison Ivy.

This is pretty much specifically the post I was going to make. It's so odd that she's the fully-dressed one, compared to, say, Harley.

I just don't like what I've seen of this so far.

It seems to me Gail Simone really likes to build her heroes, is that an accurate assumption? I'm not a fan of the build them up style of story telling.

And I mentioned this in the past but don't recall getting a response. Does anyone else think Starling is actually going to be as bad news as everyone is telling Canary she is? She just seems totally untrustoworthy to me.

LOVE this Ivy! She always works better for me as a sympathetic character like in BTAS, and around No Man's Land when she rescued those children.

Woah! Wait a second - her costume's vines covering her up (which is a smart way for her to always have "weapons" available on her) but she's also FULLY COVERED and the most clothed character of the DCnU??
Am I getting this right?

I like Ivy's look here. I've always had a measure of sympathy for her character because of my deep love of trees and plants. I like the idea of her being sort-of ambivalent like Catwoman, though the Harley/Ivy friendship was always interesting, too, though it might be lost now.

I have to say, I can't stand Ivy's look here. The random splotch of green across her boob/stomach/crotch is not doing anything for me. I don't understand the odd, black swirling bodysuit thing. Is that all a part of her skin, comically making her technically nude? She's wearing a coat later on, for ... whatever reason, but I can't tell where it ends and where she begins.

The choice of random black swirls seems just that. Random. It's not particularly thematic in any way.

The eyes look interesting, I suppose. I wouldn't have picked the eyes to look particularly monstrous on a seductress, but whatever.
