TARDIS arrives in Latveria, drawn by a Trans-Temporal Beacon
Victor Von Doom greets his distinguished visitor, and announces a banquet in his honor. Rory and Amy can come too.
Doctor explains that Doom is one of the most brilliant and most dangerous men in the universe in his time period. (DOCTOR: Don't trust him, don't provoke him, and above all, don't underestimate him ) Probably Amy and Doom get mildly flirty (well, Amy gets flirty, Doom gets charmy).
(DOCTOR (Pulling AMY aside): Stop flirting with him
AMY: Why? It's not doing any harm.
DOCTOR/RORY: Because
DOCTOR (simultaneous w RORY): he's a mad genius who's lured us here for some undoubtedly nefarious purpose.
RORY: Husband! Right here!)
At the same time, Doom and the Doctor verbally spar.
(DOOM: There are times where there is no conscionable choice but for one man to take up the burden of great power.
DOCTOR: It's not your conscience I'm worried about, it's your people.
DOOM: And what of your people, Doctor? Did you hesitate when it came time to take up that awful power?)
The banquet is cut off when an alarm sounds. The Doctor races to it, to find a group of Doombots trying to force their way in. Amy and Rory follow, but are diverted by a clever stratagem, winding up in the castle catacombs, populated by primitive prototype Doombots and various semi-discarded experiments.
The Doctor proceeds to disable the Doombots with his sonic screwdriver, and Doom arrives. Cue speed-chess fight scene
(DOOM: Naturally, I analyzed the capabilities of your sonic screwdriver the moment you stepped out of your vehicle, and adjusted the defenses of my armor to compensate.
DOCTOR: Of course. That's why, a few minutes after I stepped into your little castle, I adjusted those capabilities. (ADJUSTS SCREWDRIVER, LEVELS AT DOOM AGAIN).
DOOM: Yes, but Doom is not so easily overcome as that. I detected your adjustments, and compensated for them.
DOCTOR: Ah, but in assuming that I would have thus underestimated you, you underestimate me. While we've been having this little chat, I've set it to adjust itself trillions of times per second, and there's no way you can counter that, *Vicky*.
DOOM: Perhaps not, but consider the fate of your companions- even now they face my creations. Surrender now, and you have the word of Doom that no harm will come to them.
DOCTOR: The Ponds, alone, facing an army of robots and monstrosities? Oh, Von Doom, you poor little man, to think I told them not to underestimate *you*.)
The Ponds charge into the room, carrying weaponry stolen or modified from the prototypes (some type of sword for Rory, a very Kirby gun for Amy). Doom surges forward, gripping the Doctor by the shoulders even as the Doctor activates the Sonic Screwdriver. Doom's armor locks up, and the Doctor wrests himself from Doom's grasp. He pauses for a moment, and runs his hands over his face and hair, similar to his usual reaction upon regenerating, but without the monologue. Further Doombots enter the room and begin to carry the paralyzed Doom out.
(DOCTOR: Right! Time to go!
DOOM: What?
RORY: What, we're just going to leave after all that?
DOCTOR: Don't defy me, Pond.
DOOM: How did you...?
DOCTOR: Now! (storms into the TARDIS followed by Rory and Amy)
AMY: What do you mean, "don't defy?" We're not your minions you know.
RORY (Begins to express agreement, but is interrupted)
DOOM: Amelia Pond! That man is not the Doctor!
(AMY whirls and her expression shows an instant of horrified recognition before the TARDIS doors slam shut. Close up on Doom's eyes as we hear the sound of the TARDIS departing).
