So. Comicbook Resources recently interviewed Eric Wallace, and unsurprisingly, Peege is one of the questions that came up.

And because DC apparently has a strict no-spoilers rule in place (though admittedly they themselves aren't too good about that), Wallace could only reveal so much, but it's enough to get my Spidey senses tingling.

CBR: We've also got Karen Starr AKA Power Girl involved in these issues, though so far we've only seen her operating sans superhuman abilities. Is Power Girl de-powered? Is she going to continue to be a supporting character for Michael Holt rather than a superhero ally for Mr. Terrific?

EW: Sorry, but because of the no spoilers policy, I can't exactly say what's in store for Karen Starr. But I can say this: Karen's relationship with Michael Holt has already begun to sour, and there's a reason for this, one that is the beginning of something much bigger in both their worlds. This conflict will eventually lead to a major revelation about one of the biggest mysteries in Mister Terrific's life. So stay tuned.

Hmmmm....I suppose this is good enough (I guess) to give me hope. But damn this doesn't change the fact that my Peege withdrawal in DCnU is killing me, and even moreso with her *implied* lady friend running solo in Italy at the moment. :(

So in an attempt to stay patient for the big reveal, how about a trip inside Power Girl's mind for a legality scan, yeah?

....and then PG will be back, with news of that Earth 2 actually being the pre-Flashpoint DCU, and then a silly event will happen, Booster wtih Rip Hunter will fix things up so we'll end up back on the post-Crisis "normal" universe back , Blue Beetle fixed back, Steph!Batgirl and Cass!Black Bat back, but books like Animal Man or Swamp thing still on-going unaffected.

...

Anyway, that's what I would do things if it was up to me :P

I'm all for it if you throw in still-breathing Lian Harper and Ryan Choi (the Chinese one, not the Korean-American).

The Mister Terrific comic has been one of the biggest disappointments of the new52 for me. Many of the comics are 'more of the same' and that's fine. Some are exceptional (Hi, Flash!), some are fun and some are successfully doing what they were designed to do. I wasn't in the audience for some of the comics, by design, so I don't mind.

But I like the character...or rather, I DID. The new52 Mister Terrific appeals to me not at all and his title seems...I dunno. I just had hoped for something much more fun, much more unique than what we've gotten.

I know the feeling. Mr. Terrific despite being a "new" character (Michael Holt version) has always fit in best in the JSA milieu. The current version is just like DC wanted its own Tony Stark.

Maybe its just Wallace (remember how he wrote the Marvel Family with Osirisboy-Prime and Billy Batson holding a water hose on a villain as his final moment in pre-reboot continuity) but I wouldn't like it if his version of "Karen Starr" turns out to be the Earth-2 Power Girl. Based on what little we've seen she seems to be just a Karen Starr in name only (she doesn't even look much like Peege except for being big and blonde) and not the Power Girl of old complete with attitude (and someone who certainly did not have to play second fiddle/playing supporting player to any man - even Mr. Terrific).

I'd say its weird for DC to treat a character like this who not that long ago was STARRING in three different series for them (JSA, JSA All-Stars, and her own solo title) as just a spare part in someone's else story (and that someone else a character who have never been as successful as Peege to date) but they did the same weird treatment to Cassandra Cain (carried her own solo title for 6 years successfully, then canceled and then boom she's downgraded to a B-list villain for Robin in HIS title).

I don't mind a new spin on the new Earth-2, though I honestly don't want it to be the post-Crisis Earth for the fact that its clusterfuck of a history would make it difficult for other native Earth-2 characters like Helena Wayne to exist without conflicting with previously established canon. Also retconning Sam Jr's Helena Kyle so that she was Bruce's kid all along and was put for adoption because neither Bat nor Cat were willing to give up their colourful lifestyles? No thanks. Just bring back the original E-2 Bruce and Selina and simply update them for the modern continuity.

Honestly if Earth-2 isn't being brought back so they can tell different stories apart from the ones that are being told on the main DCU, or even make use of characters who's backstories would otherwise conflict with their more mainstream characters (ie, the original Infinity, Inc characters), why bother bringing it back at all? It would seem pretty redundant in my opinion to bring in a parallel universe that has ALL of the same characters who are roughly the same age as their mainstream counterparts and there are very little differences between them.

From all the hints I've read so far in interviews, editorials, and DC's blog, it doesn't seem like Karen's place in Mr. Terrific's book will be a permanent one.

It looks to me like DC is trying to build an aura of mystery around historically Earth-2 characters like Huntress, Karen Starr, and Mr. Terrific by avoiding giving out details on their respective histories (or at least this seems to be the case with Hunts and Peege), until a major story arc reveal properly introduces the new multiverse. Once that "major twist" is revealed, I'm pretty sure any Earth-2 characters that are currently operating on the main DCU will eventually go back to their respective places, and who knows, maybe Power Girl will end up getting her solo series back, just set on Earth-2 this time.

Bonus points if any operating Earth-2 characters are using DCU equivalents of Doctor Who's chameleon arches to conceal their real identities.

Alright!
Now, let's conquer DC ourselves and make some editorial changes ASAP!
