Spoilers, obviously.
It's Halloween, and while the rest of the team goes to the Happy Harbour Halloween Dance (they should have made it a Hodown, though that might have been a bit too Hickish), Artemis and Zatanna get up being pursued across NYC by the magically empowered villain Harm, who as a Secret that is coming back to bite him...

I really, really liked this episode. Not as cameo heavy as some of the others so far, but the character interaction between the cast was really good, both in between Zee and Artemis and the guys going to the party, the threat behind the villain was well done and there was actually some emotional impact over the revelation of who the Secret is.

I kind of doubt that this incarnation of the character'll be joining the team though, just saying. She's kind of a heroic ghostly pokemon.

The revelation that Wally and Artemis didn't know that Conner and Megan were dating kind of suprised me. As Zatanna said, wasn't it kind of obvious? Zatanna borrowing Robin's bike was a nice touch, is something going on behind the scenes there or did Zee just nick it?

Cameos,

A double one here, both Harm and Beowulf, who in addition to being from one of the oldest pieces of English literature it was also a DC comic in the vein of Conan the Barbarian who cameoed in Wonder Woman prior to the reboot. The arm the sword's wedged into is presumably Grendel's.

Turning Grendel's arm into a novelty scabbard is kind of harsh. It's like those guys in the Simpsons who stole a football player's severed leg to play like a guitar and drink beer out of.

Megan as a Zombie, Wally as a werewolf and Conner as a burn victim...er... mummy.

Captain Marvel as a Zombie, his attempts to invite himself along to the team's party, only to be rejected was kind of adorable. Though the idea of him going trick or treated by himself was kind of hilarious.

Artemis and Zatanna though they don't say in these costumes for long (not like that :P),

At the Halloween Party there were one or two fun cameos, Wendy(?) as Black Canary, Bumblebee as her superhero persona and Mal as 90s Superboy for example.

Roy comes back as Robin, Aqualad, Batman and Red Tornado discuss who the mole might be (something tells me this episode aired out of order),

Secret,

Building cameo!

And Secret's secret.

Billy boy is a good boy (Zombie)
Megan is an adorable girl (Zombie)

So... the homo magi dressed up as a witch? Isn't this supposed to be Halloween?

P.S: Raven you're not helping my crush on you by doing the whole 'giant' thing. I've got a fetish for tall women and attack of the fifty foot (mistress of my heart) lady is just not fair. You're playing below the belt... maybe I should take mine off so that won't be the case.

I just figured she was wearing it ironically.

Mal as 90s Superboy for example.

Conner - Who are you?
Mal (looking over the top of his glasses) - I'm Superman, done RIGHT.
Conner - Yeah.... good luck with that.

Wally as a werewolf

It looks more like Wally going as Jimmy Olsen, in his werewolf phase.

(Actually it would be funny to have Wally just go as Jimmy Olsen, but periodically change his costume to reflect a different Olsen transformation.)

On that note, Oblivion is only $5 on Steam right now. Perpetually previous-version me (can't afford current games usually) finds this awesome.

I'm not caught up on the last few episodes, and some things about the show still mess with my mind (why, why is Dick younger than Kon? Why was that necessary??) but I love that this show is suddenly making me really fond of Captain Marvel.

To emphasise that Dick is... remarkable. He's been a costumed hero longer than any of the rest of them but is younger than them all, with Conner (He's not Kon here, he's never been given the name) being a special case in his own way as he is technically a matter of weeks old.

I was rather disappointed with the episode but I guess it was largely a fill in episode. I should probably point out I'm pretty sure PAD co-wrote the ep so we might not be allowed to talk about it here...

Harm was a lot of fun to see but I felt his defeat was kinda...silly. A big point of his comic self was he really was fearless and the like so him "losing" because Secret scared him was...odd. Plus it made the entire fight between Harm, Zatanna and Artemis pointless.

Maybe not scared exactly so much as being forcibly reminded of the one thing he had genuinely cared for and had sacrificed for power. A reminder of the guilt he would feel for that (very well buried though it might be) was what caused the sword to reject him.

Man, this episode automatically sky-rocketed to my top 5 YJ episodes. Even the subplot, which was kind of whelming, was pretty chuckleworthy at points.

PLUS.... some pretty dark content that they somehow snuck past the censors. Seriously: an (implied) attempted rape (during the crime-stopping montage), and murder? Yikes.

But I feel that the team needs to stop bullying Cap (poor guy. I'd go trick-or-treating with Billy.), and turning Secret into a pokemon is a little weird.

But hey, Peter David DID write this episode, so I suppose he should be allowed to take some artistic liberties here. :D

.... okay... good reference to Conner's "90s year" where he acted like a showboating punk who called himself Superman rather than being, well, Superman.

Can't wait see the next tribute to Superboy comes up when two different versions of himself meet in the Generator Rex/Ben10 movie. You know what I am talking about!

I liked this episode by the reasons previously stated. Although for an episode called "Secrets" I expected to learn more secrets about the team or have them learn more about each others' secrets.

I think Harm's use of talking in third person was an added funny to his character, considering that typically people try to be cute when they talk in third person.

I thought this episode was great. The story seemed remarkably dark for a children's show, which I personally enjoyed. I was never a big fan of Teen Titans because they never seemed to take anything seriously. o.O

This episode was marvelous. It really accentuates the dark points of this show and how it's not your normal kid's cartoon- when they say young adult, they mean young adult.

Secret? So sad. I'm not familiar with her comics incarnation, so I have nothing to compare it to, but the story here was really heartwrenching. I'm along with the general consensus that's impressed they were able to get that siblingcide thing in there.

Best moments of the ep by far:

Captain Marvel's sulking ("I'm not sharing my candy!" I love it when his literal inner child shows up. Always fun)
Connor's 90's cameo. Oh christ, it was not a good idea to watch it with my friends; I laughed until I cried before I realized no one else got it and that I just looked crazy. Still absolutely perfect.

Also, Karen! Nice outfit, where'd you get that idea? xD

So Conner, Megan, and who else? And is Conner the meat or one of the bread?

At this rate Superman will be meeting grandchildren before getting over his son phobia.

That would be an awesomely hilarious and cruel joke to play on Superman, come to think of it. Have Megan shapeshift to look pregnant to get a D: reaction from him.

Harm was an utterly insufferable cliche of a villain, but otherwise, this show seems to have finally found it's voice. It's pretty well written and engaging and I love all the subtle hints they drop everywhere, especially concerning Captain Marvel's true identity.
After a really rocky start, I'm enjoying the heck out of JY.

Funny you should mention it, I got a copy of Oblivion from a friend and have literally done almost nothing else for about a week now.
