It has been noted that since Cypher's return, certain artists have drawn our favourite little mutant linguist as looking a little emaciated, approaching the cadaverous at times.

This is partly to rectify this, and partly to remind us that there are nice people in the world.

I'm probably going to embarrass a fellow CAF-er Carlos Lising mightily, but I don't actually care in this instance.

He has a great gallery, and we've exchanged e-mails from time to time and, knowing that I'm a fan of Phil Jimenez, but that he usually doesn't do UK conventions (Roll on February 2012 though!) Carlos went and attended the Mid Ohio con (driving quite a ways to get there) and came out with only one piece of art, and it wasn't even for himself, but for ME! How absurdly cool is that?

On top of that, it's also Phil's first time drawing Cypher and Warlock, not that you'd know to look at it because isn't is terrific?!



Based on this sample (and knowing that he's professed himself a fan of the original Hellions) I would LOVE to see him get a crack at the New Mutants sometime, wouldn't you?



And for legality, I'm indebted to alphaflightcollector's blogspot for a delightfully naughty little reveal about Mr Douglas "Potty Mouth" Ramsey...

When reading the recent "Fall of the New Mutants" arc (Which I keep meaning to scan and post a sample of, sorry about that) I noticed that they were using a replacement alphabet for the Limbo-speak of Magik and the assorted demonic beings, and that Doug actually does supply translation a time or two, but never got around to working out what was being said in every case.... more fool me!

And it being a demonic language, it's does seem more suited to the... less savoury aspects of language.

For example, this is Magik referring to one of her underlings;



Her phrase translates as "Hey, dick-breath"!

There are a couple of other examples in the link, but this is the one they really slipped past the editors...

After spending a while in Limbo, Doug is seen walking Magik's pets and is perhaps not best pleased with that particular duty.



At least not happy based on his comment.

For those not fluent in Limbo-ese or prepared to do the letter translation, it's a delightfully expressive phrase I'm tempted to drop into conversations in the future; "Fuck nuts!"

Oh Doug... do you merge DNA forms witth Warlock with that mouth? Tsk, tsk, tsk... ;)
