Or at least according to Batman-News anyway.

There’s a rumor making its way around the internet today that Ellen Page will be playing Barbara Gordon in The Dark Knight Rises. While many Inception actors are working with Christopher Nolan again, Ellen Page is not one of them.

I received this image last night and showed it to a few people who were on the NYC set. The first red flag was the fact that the trailer in this image is not the same as the ones used in NYC. The timing is also off. The guy said he took this photo on November 10th… so why did he wait 2 weeks to release it? Oh, because yesterday the “8 years later” news was released! Clever approach, but it didn’t fool anyone here at Batman-News.com!

I’ve been getting a lot of tweets and emails and I just wanted to clear this rumor up and let you guys know there is no truth to it. Stay tuned to Batman-News.com for all the latest on The Dark Knight Rises.

Regardless of whether or not this *really* is true, colour me relieved. I honestly don't want Nolan to fuck up an awesome character like Babs as a plot device for either Jim or Bats. X3

For legality...HOLY BULGE THERE ROBIN!!!! Or are you just happy to see Helena?

Hmmm...I don't think balls are that far back, but nevertheless this is the one time Dick actually catches my eye before Helena does.

I guess this better answers Barbara's question of why he wears short pants. :P

We've already *seen* Barbara in Dark Knight.

When Dent was threatening Gordon's wife and kids, the wife was protecting the GIRL. The son as the one that got pulled away by Dent.

And although his story is different in the comics, we all know what Gordon's kid became.

We have at least two different futures for him. Barbara's older brother existed pre-Crisis too.

Right, but this film takes place eight years later so she'd be (depending on how old she was in TDK) at least a teenager in TDKR.

Good Lord, what abominable combination of costumes is he wearing there considering he must be in his forties in this pic? (Okay, the Bat-hybrid thingie was worse, but this... ICK!)

At least the Bat-hybrid costume wasn't as much of an eyesore on the colours...up until he added the yellow cape to it that is.

Regardless, if there is an Earth-2 Dick in the New 52, I hope he comes back with this version of his costume:

Not sure about Helena's metal queen costume though. :/

Isn't that basically Tim's OYL costume?

From the little that was seen of it, it was similar in design to Tim's OYL costume, though not an exact replica. I seem to recall seeing a zipper on it at one point. Still the colours here were better balanced, I was actually sad this was not the version that appeared in the JSA Annual. :(

I'd be disappointed, but this is a Christopher Nolan movie. The only useful thing Ellen Page did in The Inception was be the character who asked the questions that the audience had. Nothing more. Everyone else who did anything useful was always the guy.

And I still won't forgive Nolan for giving us a fake Renee.

Would you have preferred a Renee which turned out to be corrupt?

OK, I know this is more of a not-spoiler and I'm not even someone who's avoiding spoilers in any way...

But could we please have some respect for people who want to avoid spoilers and put anything at all that might fall into the concept of a movie spoiler behind a cut?

The entire article IS behind a cut and has been since I made this post.

Sorry I wasn't clearer. I was refering specually to the title of the post which makes any spoiling by the article needless.

Nevertheless, I would feel more inclined to agree with you if this was actually something of substance and not a rumour.

Well.. I actually prefer this way.. I'm not sure I would have liked seeing Babs in there, or how Nolan would have handed her either.

Yes, I said it. Both his Batman movies are great...but I'm not a big fan of some of his adaptations...
(Ras was...meh, Scarecrow was underused and Harvey even worse, for all his 3 seconds of screentime he got in the end..before falling to his death!)
