Spoiler for Suicide Squad #'s 6-7:

Reload Image

In this two-part story “The Hunt for Harley Quinn” written by Adam Glass with art by Clayton Henry, Harley’s former teammates on the Suicide Squad track her through Gotham City as she tries to discover the truth behind the Joker’s disappearance.

Along the way we’ll learn Harley’s origin as Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a groundbreaking psychiatrist who works her way into the Joker’s mind as he works his way into hers, revealing her own madness within.

When we asked editor Pat McCallum about this storyline here’s what he had to say, “We don’t promise a happy ending. But the book’s called SUICIDE SQUAD, so I guess that should be obvious. ‘The Hunt for Harley Quinn’ is the mission we’ve been building to since SQUAD #1. While we’ll learn Harley’s origin, observe her first meeting with the Joker, see a new Squad lineup AND learn why King Shark has been acting so weird, it’s the last few pages of issue #7 that are a punch to the gut. For the Squad members that survive (and not all will), ‘The Hunt for Harley Quinn’ will leave them scarred both inside and out. Deadshot fans be warned.”

DC SOURCE

Uh-oh. If Floyd dies I won't be a happy camper.

Other than that, it sounds like Harley's origin will remain intact for the most part. Still I'll have to pick this up for my simple love of Harley alone if for nothing else.

Yeah--so far it sounds more or less the same, though I suppose it might be different in that instead of busting Joker out of Arkham as her first foray as Harley, she decides to go out on her own.

As for Deadshot--I sincerely doubt they'll kill the big guys like Deadshot, but it's possible that Joker hears about him and Harley while doing his little rebirth thing and decides he's none to happy about it.

hmmm you know what... i know i am tempting fate by saying this... but i think this might even be BETTER than her original origin...

now what i mean by this is that original Harley's story is classic, but she was a naive intern who tried to get ahead by analyzing the Joker... the way they SOUND like they are going here is that "She is a ground breaking Psychologist" who plaid mind games with the joker and lost... to me that is a faaar more interesting story.... again i LOVED the other origin, but this one seems pretty good...

yeah, okay... i think i might be putting this book back on my pull list...

I liked the origin of her own series. I think a big part of that comes from the fact that it wasn't simply the Joker who 'made' her, it made her more her own character. The series was pretty good that way for most of its existence, not just her origin, too.

No one's gonna be happy by the end of this. Glass is gonna change something to make it more shocking and everyone will be pissed.

i don't know... i find myself not hating this series....

i agree, there is potential for him to royally fuck up.... but i also think there is potential for this to be pretty good.

"i don't know... i find myself not hating this series...."

Everything is just so poorly-done. Everything!

I can't get into it. :(

Uh-oh. If Floyd dies I won't be a happy camper.

It can be worse. How about never having existed? If they're going for "It was never Floyd, it was the Joker!" like I think they are in that cover.

Hahaha, holy christ, it's Joker's face. Best cameo ever. They should just have an event where it gets passed around the DC universe and ends up on every cover.

Auuuuugh why do they have to keep re-working her origin? Dini introduced her in Batman: Harley Quinn where her origin was fairly similar to that of Mad Love. Kesel tried re-working it. Lieberman did, too, sort of in the Harley Quinn series (ugh, that was particularly horrible... Kesel's HQ was OK, but Lieberman's wasn't even HQ).

Well it is a reboot. No better time to re-work an origin than now...
