Captain Britain and MI13 will be ending its run in July; sad, but, given the sales, not unexpected.

Since I've recently been in a reposting mood, here are a couple of my favourite scenes from over the series that got lost when the original scans_daily went down.

The first comes from #4, the end of the first arc, after the Skrulls have been defeated and England is saved.





Love that scene.  When Faiza was first introduced there was plenty of speculation about what sort of powers she'd end up.  One of the most common thoughts was that she'd get Excalibur, but Cornell threw the audience off by giving her her body-control powers in #2 and having Captain Britain use the sword to defeat the main villains.

Less cheerily, the intro of the final arc's main menace in #10:




She'd have been better served by reading a bit more Stoker, and less Rice and Meyer.

I am so disappointed that the series will be ending. It's definitely my favourite current run, and possibly my favourite run in general.

Most definitely. Not to mention such great characters - and a marked lack of Dark Reign tie-ins.

At least Paul Cornell will still be writing for Marvel. If he does with other series what he did with this one, Marvel might just regain its lost awesome.

This title had one of the most interesting mixes I've seen in awhile. Cap Britain (and this is the best he's been written in quite some time), Blade, Faiza (who I think is nifty), and the Black Knight. I was so hopeful when we saw Meggan. I would have liked to have seen one mutant from the X-titles (Chamber if he were still a mutant...*sigh*). I like weird and diverse teams.

I'll be sad to see such an interesting group go.

I'm not exactly fond of Twilight fangirls either, but I can think of much better uses for a wide-eyed teenage girl. ;-)

In Cornell's shoes, I think I'd have gone for a barely-disguised version of the insufficiently-serviced, midlife-crisis-undergoing hack who inflicted that sorry waste of paper on humanity in the first place...

Nah, to Dracula those people are the ones who ensure there is an endless supply of deluded goth chicks (and a few guys) for him and his kind to chow down on, and the stupid idiots come WILLINGLY!

If I were Dracula I'd give Anne Rice and Laurel K Hamilton some sort of medal for services to the vampire food undustry!

My favorite interpretation of Dracula has to be the one from Hellsing. Hirano made Dracula (or Alucard as in the series) a very complex and intriguing character and I loved the way tied Dracula and Vlad the Impaler. I like the idea of Dracula with a top hat and sun glasses battling other vampires and nazi's.

I dunno if you scanned these yourself or not, but I do wonder if the poor sales had anything to do with the way the official previews kept being the LAST pages.

If they're trying to sell a book, why would they show how it ends? That's silly! It's just silly.

Marvel are obvious a bit faster on the uptake than DC- I had to buy two issues of Blue Beetle before they cancelled that.

I'm obviously cursed and should be forbidden from buying any current titles.

This happens everytime I start reading a comic book, I thought of reading Captain Britain and that gets cancelled, I started reading Nightwing and that gets cancelled, same thing happened with BOP, Robin, Blue Beetle, OR they just turn bad like Action Comics, Batman, Teen Titans, etc. Sigh.

That speil about how they need to be proper heroes was sickeningly twee and exactly what anyone familiar with Cornell's work on Who had come to expect from him.

Not to mention that since making that declaration they've been slaughtering non humans every chance they get.

Weren't they also killing the minions of the demon lord from the 2nd arc which culminated in Captain Midlands eating a bullt?

I'm just saying that if you're going to have a little speech saying "we should be propper non-killy heroes" then you should at least spend some time being non killy before slaughtering every non human you can otherwise it just makes it look like you mean "we shouldn't kill people, but everyone else is fair game because they're not people"

The Mindless Ones are likewise demons. There's a clear distinction between humans and magical creatures like that (and between those sorts of magical creatures and, say, faeries).

Midlands didn't kill himself, though Pete offered him the chance. And Pete represents the antithesis of Brian's methodology.
