Yesterday was the Los Angeles screening of the 6 minute prologue for The Dark Knight Rises for reporters and journalists, and of course, the web monkeys over at Batman-News got a hold of the detailed description of Bane's first appearance.

WB logo

Ice. Cold. Crystalized imagery and a very familiar logo of a Bat.
Jim Gordon at Harvey Dents funeral gives a eulogy, a few words about
inspiring others…

CUT—
An unnamed mountainous region.
A jeep rides along the landscape. Hooded men in the back of a jeep are
driven to a small plane… the jeep is met by an armed CIA agent who
takes into custody a political VIP, who is traveling with these hooded
men… or is he? The CIA Douche learns that one of the hooded men is
BANE?!

The hooded men, along with the political VIP are loaded onto the plane.
The plane takes to the air as the CIA douchebag interrogates those
taken on board. One of the hooded men is dangled outside the plane and
questioned/threatened and when the CIA agent doesn’t get what he
wants, he fires his weapon (next to the hooded man’s ear, he is not
killed) and then begins to question the other hooded man. That hooded
man is unmasked and revealed to be… Bane!

CIA DOUCHE: Was it your plan all along to be captured?
Suddenly, a much larger plane overtakes the smaller plane occupied by
CIA Douche, Bane and hostages. Operatives from the larger plane
descend onto the smaller one–
Bane in all his Ventilator glory is revealed….CIA DOUCHE: If I take
this off, will you die?BANE: No. But I will be in a lot of pain.
BAM!

Operatives from the larger plane fire upon the interior of the plane
interrupting the interrogation.
The larger plane has ahold of the smaller one as it pulls it by wires
throwing all the passengers downward in a disorienting fashion.
After quickly overtaking the plane, Bane’s operatives bring in a man
with inside a body bag. This man is dead or looks barely alive. Bane
then takes the VIP political prisoner and inserts a tube and transfers
blood from the body bag man. (It’s confusing as to why this is
important.)

AND THEN… in a scene that no words will be able to do justice, a
hole is cut from the smaller plane and a wire takes Bane and the VIP
politico through the rear of the plane as the smaller plane is ripped
apart and is destroyed while members of Bane’s team sacrifice their
lives going down with the small plane. (Again, it should be stressed,
this description pales to what you will actually see, it’s a true
spectacle.)

The chant can be heard at the end… Deh-Shay! Bah-Sah-Ra!
The scene is followed by a montage that includes many images we’ve
seen, the most striking includes the Bat-copter chasing down fatigued
Batmobiles down the streets of Gotham, and a final shocking image of
Bane tossing away a shattered and torn Batman mask into rubble…
The only complaint about the 7 minute prologue was echoed by all in
attendace: Bane’s dialog is very difficult to understand. Imagine
Darth Vader with a very thick accent. Hopefully this will be fixed in
the final film.

Overall this opening scene is confusing, epic, and will leave
audiences speechless. All in a good way.

Source.

All I have to say is, we have a week to find out how 'bad ass' this intro is. For those of you who don't know, the 6 minute prologue premieres next weekend with Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol at select IMAX theatres. :}

For legality, beefcakey Bane is beefcakey

On an unrelated note, Nicola Scott can draw some muscles, yo. *_____________*

I always suspected he and Deadshot were at least bi...I didn't know it was confirmed for Catman though. Who confirmed it? :o

Speaking of Catman, wonder where he's going to surface in DCnU.

I like bisexual men for the fact that they're more open to *experimenting* than straight men are, which bisexual me finds very, very rewarding.

Well no, you don't have to be bi yourself to enjoy the benefits. But for a bisexual female like myself, it is a relief to be involved with someone who's just as open to trying new things as you are, and not be subjected to the "I won't make out with a guy for you, but I do think it would be hot to see you with another girl" mentality of the typical straight guy, which I find insulting.

I think the experience that, as a woman, your sexual boundaries are *always* expected to be more flexible than a man's is universal.

not be subjected to the "I won't make out with a guy for you, but I do think it would be hot to see you with another girl" mentality of the typical straight guy, which I find insulting.

I'm not even bisexual, yet there have still been plenty of guys who think that's an ok expectation to land on me. Apparently it doesn't matter that I'm straight, because "female sexuality is fluid" (by which they seem to mean that it should take the shape of whatever they find pleasing).

In my experience, bi guys are a little more aware of the diversity of human sexuality, and find it easier to understand what sex is like from my perspective.

Well yes, you do have a valid point there about women being expected to have a more 'flexible' sexuality. What I was getting at is that as soon as a straight guy finds out I am bisexual, he (more often than not) wants to exploit that even more. Fortunately I managed to silence my last ex on that suggestion when I gave him the condition that it will only happen after he himself gets it on with another guy first. He never brought it up again.

In my experience, bi guys are a little more aware of the diversity of human sexuality, and find it easier to understand what sex is like from my perspective.

Agreed.

What I was getting at is that as soon as a straight guy finds out I am bisexual, he (more often than not) wants to exploit that even more.

Ugh, I can imagine. That's the kind of thing that actively discourages me from exploring my boundaries, because as soon as I even hint at doing anything outside my comfort zone a dude latches onto that and tries to push me into doing stuff that I'm certain I'd *never* want to do.

I'm so sick of the idea that kinks are something that men *have* and that women accomodate. I mean, when men praise a women for being 'kinky' or 'dirty,' they don't usually mean that she has plenty of well-defined fetishes of her own - no, they just mean that she's willing to be pushed in whatever direction they choose to push her.

Wow, I must be in a grumbling mood today. To get back on topic: a bisexual Catman. That is hot. And apparently Gail simone is planning to write a scene between him and Deadshot that explores this!

I hope she gets around to writing that story too. A story that actually explore's a character's sexuality is not something I see often in any of the comics I read that isn't done in an exploitive fashion.

Yeah. I think she said that at first she thought it would be in character for Deadshot to be all "bzuh?" at the news, but then on further consideration she thought it would be more Floyd for him to have already guessed/intuited as much.

I do miss the Catman and Deadshot friendship. The weird thing is, I always picked up more "vibes" from Deadshot towards Catman rather than vice versa.

I miss their friendship too and wondered where Catman would fit in the newer continuity.

The weird thing is, I always picked up more "vibes" from Deadshot towards Catman rather than vice versa.

I was honestly convinced during most of the Secret Six run that both guys were secretly getting it on with each other behind the scenes. Apparently I wasn't the only one who thought so. :)

It's a strange case with me though, cause I don't become anywhere near as emo being single as I do being in a relationship. I usually tend to go for years without a relationship and I'm fine, but as soon as I get into one, that's when I tend to hit rock bottom. Then again, this may be due to the fact that I have a consistent history of getting involved with the wrong people. :/
