New DCU... same old trope! YAY! :)
Dec. 12th, 2011 06:50 pmDC is releasing it's previews for the March Batfamily titles a little early
Seven issues must almost be a record! :)

NIGHTWING #7
Written by KYLE HIGGINS
Art by EDDY BARROWS and PAULO SIQUEIRA
Cover by EDDY BARROWS
On sale MARCH 21
Nightwing vs. Saiko! The truth about Haly’s Circus! A tribute show for the Flying Graysons! They’re all in this amazing issue! Of course, there’s no way they could be related…right? Plus: As the answers regarding Haly’s Circus are revealed, what do they mean for Dick Grayson’s future in Gotham City? And more important, his future as Nightwing? Be here to find out!
And in terms of a more... safe cover
Somehow this lacks the.... gracefulness I would hope for in such a group shot

BATWING #7

Art by BEN OLIVER
Cover by JASON FABOK

Batwing comes to Gotham City! Batwing and Batman race back to the city hoping to stop the killer Massacre from assassinating the last two members of Africa’s lost super-team, The Kingdom! Meanwhile, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Robin are already on the ground leading the search. Plus: The dark past of the Kingdom is revealed!

Re: The Batgirl solicit
Date: 2011-12-12 10:13 pm (UTC)Of course, I'm sure Saint Gail will magically find a way to explain things that doesn't present Barbara as a complete putz when The Killing Joke ends with Joker and Batman laughing it up together. I like TKJ, but honestly, DC, you should've fucked it off to Elseworlds status.
Re: The Batgirl solicit
Date: 2011-12-12 10:19 pm (UTC)It has Batman coming to see her in the hospital afterwards and her being understandably less than pleased that when Batman had caught the Joker, both of them were reported as laughing hysterically. Her angey and acid question "What were you laughing about? Was it me?" still strikes me as being one of the strongest comments on TKJ in any medium.
Re: The Batgirl solicit
Date: 2011-12-12 10:27 pm (UTC)Even Moore says it wasn't originally meant to be in continuity. The story with Barbara questioning Batman shouldn't have been necessary, but DC insisted on shoehorning it in there. TKJ is just a very well drawn Elseworlds, IMO.
