Well peeps, as some of you may know, the second trailer along with the prologue will debut tonight at midnight with Sherlock Holmes and Mission Impossible. However, as usual, someone was kind enough to leak it online.

The sound and visual quality isn't great, but at least this gives us an idea of what we're in for. :}

Description of the trailer in case video goes bye bye: http://batman-news.com/2011/12/15/the-dark-knight-rises-trailer-2-leaked-descriptions-are-online/

Hmmm...is it just me or has Bruce and Selina dancing at a masquerade ball become a cliche now in Bat cinema?

For legality:

I watched this earlier, and whilst I can't tell what the fuck Selina is saying (ironic given people have been complaining about Bane's voice in the six minute prologue), it does look very, very epic. Bane is going to be a complete monster, and I'm hoping that, for once, Nolan is going to actually have his female characters be something other than A - an audience surrogate, B - disposable victims the male characters have unknowingly been fighting over or C - a plot device in the form of Marion Cotillard.

I mean, you know, I'm not complaining about Marion Cotillard - if we have to have plot devices, I'm glad they look like *that*, but.. Yeah. More effort to stop it being a sausage fest, please, Nolan!

And do we really have to have ANOTHER Alfred motivational rant? The fucker must actually run a secret business in fortune cookies and psychiatry.

Mm. A lot of the complaints about Bane have come from the prologue footage, although I watched the bootleg of that and understood nearly every word. He's supremely scary and cool, I think, and a more interesting baddie than Joker already.

I think my favourite line of dialogue of his I've seen so far is the sudden 'Crashing this plane!' line he utters in the prologue, where he completely turns the table on his CIA captors. I mean, seriously, it's as dumb as Justin Hammer in Iron Man 2 - Regardless of whether you've got someone in captivity, you do not mock a criminal mastermind.

Yeah, at least in the Dark Knight the cop at least knew that the Joker was trying to rile him before accidentally getting into a position to allow him to escape.

This. Although why anyone with a brain cell would willingly stay in the same room as the Joker - as opposed to, say, watching him through the glass, is beyond me.

Just FYI: his final dialogue is very garbled, mostly due to the setting (in a ruined plane) and the bootlegging As far as I can tell, it goes like this:

BANE: "They'll be expecting one of us in the wreckage, brother!"

LACKEY: "We've started a fire..."

BANE: "Ah, but The Fire Rises!"

(He grabs Dr. Pavel)

BANE: "Calm down, Doctor! Now is not the time for fear...that comes later."

(Clicks button, the plane drops)

I'm actually really enjoying how theatrical they're making Bane. Nolan compared him to an old-school monster, but with a brain, and it's really coming across. Like I've said elsewhere, my favourite bit of dialogue from him so far is his turning the tables on the CIA with 'crashing this plane!'; Again, never mock and insult a criminal mastermind.

On the female characters thing--I think that's possible this might change that. "Miranda" is more than likely Talia, and from what Selina says here (I couldn't hear it either, but others were able to figure it out), I wouldn't be surprised if she started out as one of Bane's agents.

I think it pretty obvious Miranda is Talia, and if she isn't, it's going to be a very big surprise to try and see what role she actually plays. But then, given some of the casting reports have already talked about a Young Talia - there was even a report in a local British newspaper, I believe, about a young woman who had just worked with Roger Moore being approached for the role - She pretty much has to be. This is without even mentioning some of the shots taken of her whilst she was on set by members of the public, which potentially tell us a lot.

Pretty much this. I'll be perfectly frank and say I'd believe anything Cotillard told me with a dazed smile, if I hadn't seen particular pictures of her on set which either blatantly confirm she's Talia and in league (excuse the pun) with Bane or she's helping Bruce by rallying some kind of resistance to Bane.

But then, that we've had pictures of her climbing out of camo-painted Tumblers and Bane's standing atop one.. Well, I'm not going with the latter idea.

I'd heard rumours that Bane's origin story would involve the League of Shadows recruiting him as a child. Applying that logically to the rumours of a child actress being hired as Young Talia, it wouldn't be too big a guess to suggest that they're kind of like a twisted brother and sister relationship, both out to make daddy Ra's proud through the League?

Here's what people have figured Selina to be saying, by the way:

“There’s a storm coming Mr. Wayne. You and your friends better batten down the hatches…you’re all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large, and leave so little for the rest of us.”

Wait.. Wait, what? Tell me that the 'great visionary director' Nolan did not just resort to dialogue as cliched as 'there's a storm coming'?

Yeah, but I haven't seen that in a good year! - which is a shame, because it's a way better film than The Dark Shite. But then I've never really thought much of Nolan's dialogue. He and his brother tend to make people into either Mr Exposition or Mr On-The-Nose.

Oh, do not even get me STARTED on Nolan and female characters.

The other one is D - A rather paint-by-numbers Femme Fatale.

Which is exactly what I expect both Catwoman and "Miranda" to be in this movie.

Has he ever employed one of them before in his stories? I suppose Cotillard in Inception could overlap into D as well as being C, really.

I remember reading an interview where somebody from Inception said that Marion's character was supposed to be a stereotypical Femme Fatale on purpose.

I would also argue Natalie from Memento is a femme fatale.

She does fit the bill of a femme fatale in Inception, but she seems... Much more deliberately antagonistic than the average definition of the idea, somehow. She's still a big, very attractive plot device, though.

Possibly qualifies, but I always thought she was more integral to hinting at one of the big reveals than she was as a standalone character. There was also the wife/girlfriend/love of the character Jackman played, I believe, who falls straight into the same category as poor old Rachel.
