Usually, I avoid fictionalised depictions of schools, with the exception of Channel 4's Teachers (because, yes, teaching is actually almost exactly like that).

Often, it's too cringy to fictional teachers in action as they're either life-changingly amazing (which I'm not) or are nowhere near depicting any sort of accurate level of professionalism.

I make a second exception for Image's Morning Glories, by Nick Spencer. The same Nick Spencer who is writing the super-delayed Infinite Vacation, who wrote two thirds of Supergirl #60. He's generally regarded as a "bright young thing".

The reason that I can read his Morning Glories series is because teaching is almost nothing like that.

After THAT, it gets weird. And if you're tempted to pick this up, then do be aware that it's gory from about page 7.

You know, initially I heard a lot of good things, but I think the last time I heard it discussed it sounded like it was REALLY dragging on the mystery to Lost or BSG levels. Would you say that's accurate?

I burned through the first 12 issues pretty quickly, but since then I haven't really felt the need to go back and re-read them, or to get #13.

It's introduced a lot of ideas very quickly. There's too much going on that there isn't any time spent developing ideas, more introducing new ones. I know that it's scheduled to run for more than a hundred issues, with #36 being the end of Season One and #18 being the Game Changer issue, but it's progressing far too slowly to read on a monthly basis right now.

Oh, and I should mention that the first issue is free on Comixology, if you're curious. You can get the trades for ten bucks on it as well.

I bought the first dozen for 99c apiece through Comixology a few months ago.

Obviusly she is evil, it goes with the territory. But she was hot, that is pretty rare.

Actually, a lot of the women I work with are very attractive and young.

So you're a fellow teacher then? Been lurking around here for years, and I don't think I ever knew that.

Also, this kind of thing is exactly why I prefer to stick with the younger grades. Our last class science experiment was putting grow-capsules in fresh and salt water. They can't blow me up with that, no sir.

I actually really like Morning Glories. I've gotten a bit lost with the story as of late, and haven't been following, but I'd like to pick it up in trades and re-read it when I can.

I like Morning Glories, but I never really felt moved to buy the comics because the art lets the story down (can't Spencer use his newly flexed power to get a good artist? Yeah, I know it's an independent, but still) this art looks better, though.

What do you think is wrong with the art?
