Except Talia was never 'dead or missing'. Morrison just had Damian leaving her side in Batman and Robin's 'Batman Versus Robin' arc, and it's not that much of a distinct change from how she's operated throughout his run anyway. If Batman Inc had been published the way it should, without this huge gap between issue eight and what became Leviathan Strikes, she wouldn't have even been away that long either.
She's the only one who made any sense without Morrison bringing in someone entirely new. Jezebel Jet was dead - And the only reason Damian claims otherwise is what he's 'been told'. Morrison never seemed to like the idea of bringing Ra's Al Ghul back. And Nyssa Raatko was dead before Morrison even started his run.
In terms of someone who knows Bruce best, has the resources to put together something entirely opposite to Inc, it's her. It also ties in pretty darn well to Morrison's original Batman run and Batman and Robin, especially the latter.
Inc was put together because of something Bruce saw while traveling through time and previous stories suggested Bruce working against something established, so Leviathan should not exist to counter Batman Inc.
Okay, fine. Regardless, Talia already had a group going that was distinctly not the League of Assassins back in Batman and Robin. She's been splintered off from her father's group for a long while.
i don't think there was a middle eastern batman. if there was it wasn't him, i recall this guy being one of the first "adversaries" batman fought in the Leviathan arc
He's called the Heretic. He was first shown in the Morrison/Finch one-shot Batman: The Return. In that story, Damian encounters him, and all Heretic does is say to him, "I know you...but...that day has yet to come. When it does...YOU will know ME." The popular theory is that he's the cloned Damian that we saw in the test tube in Batman & Robin.
I hate how he writes her too. Then again, I generally have a problem with how he writes quite a few female characters. Talia just got it especially bad.
My problem with his version of Talia is that he kind of wrote her with sort of the same voice as Jezebel Jet, only more Bond villainish.
Admittedly it's something of an improvement over her... somewhat neutral personality in her previous appearances, though she doesn't really seem to be that nice a person either.
If only her bosom were busting out of a tiny top, now. Then again, they have more issues to try that with, don't they? (I swear Hevn has no nipples...)
Morrison. I like your work on Batman. I love that you introduced Damian. Love how you interpret the Joker. Hell I actually love this book...but dude for the love of god what is the deal with Talia's heel turn?!
An effort to make her something other than the fairly spineless vacillating love interest who won't leave the genocidal, megalomaniac madman who is her father for... no adequately explained reason?
I'm not saying it worked, or anything like it, but previous takes on Talia barely have her being a character.
You'd think so, but somehow she never left him, she was always either with him, or would go back to him, and not even to particularly try and stop him.
When Talia and Damian last spoke, he basically told her that he no longer wished to be part of her life, becasue she was disappointed he'd fallen in with Dick and the Batclan, and she wouldn't love him or accept him as he was (Which Dick did without hesitation or reservation). She warned him that from now on they would be enemies, and his reply was one of Damian's finest moments as he simply says "Then I hope I will be a worthy one mother" and leaves.

CA: Yeah, the only mother I can think of [in your work] is Talia, and I don't think that anybody would call her any kind of role model.
GM: She's not, but also, I've been thinking about her again as well. I want to do a much more rounded portrayal of Talia shortly.

However, Rihanna, Katy Perry and Gaga made it in xD

From what I saw of Steph's appearance though she's all kinds of awesome, and not the damsel in distress people appeared to be worried she'll be. :)

Not excited about what Morrison continues to do to Talia, but Steph was great, and Rihanna/Gaga/Katy Perry were a nice bonus!

What exactly happened that she's against Bruce now?
And reading above, it sounds like it's someone different, but the guy next to her reminds me of Azrael-Batman.

Plus, unless I'm mistaken, Red Robin's new HQ is underneath a fine dining establishment. It's like the perfect setup for some sitcom shenanigans.
