hmmmmm perhaps this is the writer in me (his name is Guapo:) but i don't know... i don't think he will actually kill off Paco... or anyone else.. he is trying to play up the "Killing machine" angle of the beetle. he is also playing up the horror/terror angle of a kid suddenly getting bonded to killing machine... i loved the original blue beetle... but i also think (and i think this is what htey think) is that Jaime had it too easy controlling the beetle...

Yet Jaime has shown a great deal of resistance to the beetle's influence... i have a feeling the beetle will be the key to saving Paco....

It's pretty good as what it is, but I can't help but think the proposal for this boiled down to " You know everything we could've done with the character the first time around, but instead chose to do something a little more refreshing and new? How 'bout we do all that now, and eat the cake? "

they're putting their heroes in the most cliched situations imaginable in this reboot.

I'm giving this a shot because I figure in the first series Jaime's family probably was disappointed in him for the first year(he was just absent for it because of OYL) and if Alberto is a former soldier in this at the very least he didn't spend his time fighting aliens

I wasn't a big fan of the original series (the pacing was all over the place). And honestly, I kinda like that they're focusing more on the fact that Jamie can't control this frigging thing. It makes it more interesting in the fact that Jamie has been consistent (far as I know) as a character, where he even WANTS to tell his family, but the scarab won't let him!

Well, I guess I'm happy that they gave him his own comic. I just wish I LIKED it. Mind you, given the fact that the first issue sold 40K, the second 35K and the third issue sold 24K....well, this isn't going to last long.

You know, the reason I liked the previous Blue Beetle comic was because it DIDN'T have this grimdark angsty nonsense in it. It was lighthearted, optimistic fun, and that made it a beautiful oddity in the sea of GRR ARGH BLARGLE GRIMDARK stuff lining the shelves.

I'm gonna keep buying the book. I highly doubt Paco would be killed off like this for one thing. Plus I do still want to show DC that I want a Blue Beetle book. Hopefully the funny and happy tone returns soon.

The part I hated most about this issue wasn't even the stabbing, it's the part where Jaime tells the scarab to go all out on the bad guys. Because... no. That's not Jaime.

Hello, I am guessing you are still collecting Blue Beetle. Any chance of you posting the page(s) in #5 with the Reach in outer space? (I follow GL: New Guardians and that is supposed to lead into a future issue).

A scan of the beetle in the hospital I keep hearing about might be cool too.
