To be fair, it IS Hal. He seems to have only three settings,

- Blandly MacBland Pants (the current comics ever since he stopped being the Spectre)
- Asshole (most over depictions, except bizarrely when he was Parallax)
- Conflicted hero (New Frontier and the movie, though in the latter it's mixed with the second for most of the film)

And the third one isn't used that much.

If they hadn't made him into a crazy mass-murderer (a hastily put together Editorial decision I think DC has regretted ever since since they have tried to retcon it or give him a heroic out or bring a past version of himself or made it all the fault of a giant yellow space bug) I think Parallax could have worked. He was a lot more interesting than what Johns has given us since his return. Heck, if you read some of Zero Hour (which I loathed especially what it did to the JSA) some of ParaHal's arguments made sense and in the end the multi-verse returned anyway (a few years later). Never got over some of the other super-heroes, especially Superman (who called Parallax in a follow-up issue a "super-villain") on the seeming death of their old ally through the hands of his best friend. That was cold. Very cold..and made their eulogies on how awesome Hal was after he gave his life in Final Night ring very hollow.

	It feels really weird seeing the League as basically rookies who haven't met yet looking just like their "present day" counterparts. Im so used to flashback league stories featuring the characters in older costumes/older looks (for example for awhile with PAD era Aquaman you knew it was a flashback story because he didn't have facial hair). 	Agreed, but the more I hate him for being a douche the more I enjoy the comic. It works well in a team setting, Batman laughing at him is awesome. (Reply to this) (Thread from start) (Parent)
