From Steve Ditko's final issue of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN:

And here's a look at SHOWCASE #75, the first appearance of Hawk and Dove.

Especially since the Objectivist page on Comic Book Religion lists five Objectivist characters, two of whom were Ditko's (The Question and Mr. A) and a third was inspired by Ditko's characters (Rorschach).

Checking out that site, I realize that there are very few "major" Jewish characters. Ben Grimm, Kate Kane, a couple incarnations of Doctor Fate, Magneto, the Maximoffs, Kitty Pryde. . .Bendis.

Wha? You're saying that Bendis made Kitty Pryde Jewish? If so she's kind of been since she was introduced.

I think they mean that "Bendis" is one of the main Jewish character of the MU. Cuz he has most of his character speak in Jewish New Yorkese slang or something.

To be fair, a lot of nonJewish folk in New York use Yiddish slang, same with people from parts of London.

I was trying to translate how I understood the comment; not agreeing with it.

At last, someone has joined me in my firm belief that Brian Michael Bendis does not exist.

The same goes for Art Simek, by the way.

Wanda and Pietro are both Roma/Gypsy. Their mother, Magda, was Roma/Gypsy, as were the Maximoffs who adoped them (thanks to the High Evolutionary).

They're ethnically half-Jewish. Which, since it's not their mother who's Jewish, means they're not *really* Jewish, but that's a different kind of technicality.

More importantly than which of their parent is Jewish, if you ask them if they identify as Jewish, I'd be very surprised either of them would say "yes".

Ah, I've heard of this. I think that later in the story Peter swings by the protest later as Spider-Man and yells abuse at them, which resulted in the more left leaning Stan Lee changing the dialogue to make him more supportive.
