I wouldn't mind the art so much if the faces didn't have a tendency to go...weird. Sometimes it looks fine and then something happens to the faces and I'm sitting here going "wtf".

That said, Miguel is a delight and I really wish there were more cheerful, happy characters who enjoy what they do like him. I think that's why I like Jaime Reyes and his family so much.

That was Solstice's role prior to this reboot wasn't it?

I believe so, or at least that's what a lot of scans/people talking about the changes her character are undergoing have led me to believe, but this is the first time I'm meeting her so I am far from an expert!

"I really wish there were more cheerful, happy characters who enjoy what they do like him."

You know, I keep hearing this a lot, and I'm wondering if there is really such a lack of those kinds of characters. I mean, just because they're not going "WHEE! FUN!" doesn't mean that they don't enjoy what they're doing.

Looking at the DC stuff right now, I'd definitely say that the Superman in Action, outside of a moment of doubt in #3, has been that kind of character. Batman is a really diciplined and serious, but in the early issues of Snyder's Batman run you saw that he enjoys some of the more insane aspects of his job, like jumping his bike off a train to crash into a helicopter. Catwoman--DEFINITELY into what she does, even if she's going through the ringer right now. The Flash definitely counts.

I actually agree about the Superman in Action - even when he was basically tortured, it never felt very dark or anything, and I feel like he has a lot of joy in him now. And I'm loving Snyder's Batman run as well, so I can't argue there. I'm not touching this Catwoman with a ten foot pole, though, and haven't read any of Flash, just seen very gorgeous art.

If you're not going with Catwoman because of the first issue, I'd highly recommend giving it another shot--outside of the afterglow in the second issue, it really hasn't been about sex or overtly cheesecake since. Granted, it's taken a bit of a turn to the dark since then, but it's still a solid crime story.

Also, the writing for Flash has been just as fun and energetic as the art. It's just an awesome book in general.

No I stopped after the second issue of Catwoman, just wasn't for me, but you're like the sixth person who has told me I should be reading Flash, so I'm just gonna go ahead and try it :D

Yeah, ia. It's something that happens with the faces that just makes me frown. Otherwise the art is fine.

The faces look like Booth forgets what human faces look like halfway through drawing them.
