Ultimate Ultimates #5 (I refuse to call it Ultimate Comics Ultimates, as that would just sound silly) comes out tomorrow. Or today if you buy your Ultimate books digitally. It's a good read, and is a bit of a breather issue after the white knuckle ride of the first few issues.


Firstly, crossover ahoy as Jessica Drew returns to her apartment in the Triskelion

I really do like it when panels from other books are represented in their own styles. It happens later in the issue as Sandoval's art is used as the Ultimate Runaways are introduced.

The second bit comes from when Thor is dining with Jane Foster (when was Ultimate Jane Foster introduced? I feel like I've missed a bit). When the Children of Tomorrow destroyed Asgard (apart from Thor's son, who is in the Room with no Doors), Thor became Valhalla. As a result, he has the ghosts of Asgard in his head. They speak to him while he's having dinner, giving him advice.

I think Ultimate Jane was the woman who didn't want to leave him to fight alone in Ultimates 2 - I don't think she was named. She was also in Ultimate Avengers vs New Ultimates, Thor was staying with her. The caption said it was Jane Foster's apartment.

...I'm sorry I couldn't keep my eyes off Jessica Drew there, but honestly I've been enjoying this new Ultimates book. Seriously The Children of Tomorrow are the kind of villains that get a "holy shit!" reaction out of me. Seriously Norman could've used a lesson from them with the whole Siege thing.

Yep--she was discovered during the Ultimate Clone Saga, one of the many clones of Peter who's genetic structure was tampered and experimented on--hence the different sex.

I'm not feeling it. I want to feel it, but I don't. It still doesn't feel like the Ultimate Universe, for some reason.

Seriously, I'm always amazed that they haven't given Ultimate Spider-Woman a mini--the fact that this is a male mind that's been melded into a female body is already rife with interesting dramas, let alone what other things they could do with it.

I suspect they aren't real and are a manifestation of his survival guilt. All the ghosts say that Thor is going to die soon and he should get on with it and that he should leave Jane before she finds out about them. Poor Jane doesn't know what to do because Thor won't tell her he can see these ghosts and he is spiralling into a pit of depression.
