So you see, some of you are too young to remember this, but there was once a time when Green Lantern wasn't a massive egotistical jerk. That once, ONCE, he was considered a fairly straight-line superhero. This was a far distant time in the past, before some of you were born, but it's true.

His biggest weakness was that he was fairly dull by modern standards...but that was true of most of DC's stable of heroes not named Batman, Superman or Aquaman, honestly.*

* - Yes, I said AQUAMAN. Hard to believe, but there was once a distant time when the undersea monarch held his own title and was considered a pretty big seller. And unlike many of the legacy heroes at DC, Aquaman is an original hero like Batman, dating from 1941 (though like Hawkman they keep rebooting him). And unlike Flash, Green Lantern or Hawkman, Aquaman is defined more by his situation than his powers (i.e. Sea King versus fish-controller).
