"Aang and Katara are working tirelessly for peace when an impasse between Fire Lord Zuko and Earth King Kuei over Fire Nation colonies within the borders of the Earth Nation threatens to plunge the world back into war! Meanwhile, Sokka must help Toph prepare her hapless first class of metalbending students to defend their school against a rival class of firebenders!

* Written by Eisner winner and National Book Award nominee Gene Luen Yang (American Born Chinese).

* Combined, Avatar: The Art of the Animated Series and Avatar: The Lost Adventures have sold over 30 thousand copies."

Although it the second fact is impressive, I don't really see what it's got to do with anything. I mean, it's nice that they've sold a lot of copies, but the original series won a Peabody Award for it's character development and depiction of the horrors of war, that's far more impressive. Even though both the Art book and the Lost Adventures are, admittedly, well worth the money on their own.

Of what I've seen of the Promise Part 1 (yeah, I know that the entire things been leaked, but I'm wanting to buy it legimately before reading it) to does actually look and read very well. So I'm looking forward to both of 'em. And the cover for this one is cool, slightly aged-up Toph looks like she's about to gleefully stomp someone.

Thoughts?

Oh, and apparently Korra is coming out in either the Summer or the Autumn this year (in the latest) as opposed to next year, which is good news if true. If it isn't, then they're in a race with Futurama Season 7 to see who gets completed first (both have the dialogue recorded, preproduction as started on both with at least one episode of Korra actually completed so far).

Popular sells. Implies good word-of-mouth among non critics too, I'd guess.

I think it also helps that thirty thousand copies sold between them is pretty darn impressive for what's basically a TPB and an art book. Most TPBs struggle to sell even that many copies unless they're insanely popular.

He does have that regal bearing thing down pat doesn't he? You need to be sure of yourself to stride that confidently! :)

Looks to me like he's stomping over to tell them to stop fighting on his lawn. :P

I swear I'll have a fit if they really did throw Zuko's character development under a bus for the sake of conflict.

And Gene Luen Yang needs to learn how to write better romantic dialogue.

It's unlikely that (IF) Zuko ends up sliding back on the wrong road again, it won't last that long as the title sequence for Legend of Korra says that it's he and Aang who are setting up Republic City (or whatever it's called, they keep changing the name) together out of the Fire Nation colonies that don't want to be returned to the Earth Kingdom.

And as for the romantic dialogue, ah, I'll let that slide for now. After all Aang and Katara are only in their early to midteens at this point, sappiness goes hand in hand with all relationships towards the beginning in my experience.

Zuko - continuing the tradition of having new hair in every single season ever.
