A preview from Newsarama for Wolverine and the X-Men #4

Not liking the teenage look of Bobby, he's in his thirties or so isn't he (Is that Husk in the bandages, and have they explained why she's wearing them if it is?). And that's a very Whedon-like line for Kitty.

Knowing how much I like Kurt though, the thought of an army of horny mini-Kurts is strangely not that disturbing... ;)

Date: 2012-01-09 12:54 am (UTC)I think that's what's been bugging about this book: last time they did this: they introduce fun new younger characters, and a few years later, KILLED almost all of them off! ANd I am not sure if this guys DO live for future generations would make me happy or tick that these guys lived but the other didn't, just the death of young students being the X-Men's first simple mistake because they weren't experienced at it..

They mentioned a few months ago (in a title/issue that I can't remember) that her powers were going wonky and she was kind of shedding constantly. So that's either her skin looking really nasty or she's wearing bandages on her arms to keep said skin from falling off. So it's kind of gross either way. lol.

Date: 2012-01-09 04:18 pm (UTC)What we've had lately, however, is a series of writers using the kid as punching bag, especially since he lost his hands: Fraction treating the loss with nearly total irreverence, Mike Carey turning him into a killer and hinting that he's destined to become a monster, Marjorie Liu treating him as a creepy stalker (while white knighting fuck-mothering Gambit of all people, which is just sourly hilarious), Jason Aaron writing him as a bully and a generic brat, and pretty much everyone IC telling him to suck it up and stop sulking over a little thing like becoming a double amputee. And I imagine it's only going to get worse now that Quire's back as the powerful, snotty kid who thinks he's destined to lead the X-Men. It's gone past the point where I'm willing to excuse it as writers (badly) trying to show him in a period of personality adjustment to where it's starting to stink a bit of ableism.

Date: 2012-01-09 05:19 pm (UTC)Frenzy strikes me as being a born Phys Ed Teacher (Well, some of the Phys Ed teachers I recall). In fairness, perhaps, she might have many untapped skills that never seemed relevant to her career as a criminal, like a doctorate in Fine Arts having done her thesis on the pottery of the Italian Renaissance or something.
Cannonball has on-the-job experience as a team leader, and is usually regarded as an excellent tactician and field leader, with a talent for innovative uses of other peoples powers, so I could see him working quite well at helping people come to terms with the powers and use them in new and creative ways.
I'd certainly prefer him as a teacher to the even younger and never THAT people oriented, Kitty "Didn't even finish Uni" Pryde, who is somehow headmistress at the age of what, 21 or 22 tops?
